livingart
i would do thigs differently and not listen to the so called experts ie the tank going to be inside or outside and does it need to be movable?
anthony law
this tank wil be in the shed on a stand once setup that where it will stay unless i move. bigger is better 8) 8)
anthony law
filtration the best way is running a sump and with some volcanic rock as this is porous.
livingart
i would use cool store walls again but line the inside with marineply and then fibreglass still use 4x4 framing for strength ontop of fibreglass i have 3 coars of water tank paint to ensure water tightness, it was cheaper than epoxy paint most costly part is the glass, that is why i used 15mm acrylic i have 2 x 200 litres of pumice rock for the sump if i go that way
livingart
any thoughts on cheapest way to heat i have a 300w jaegar and a 300 watt stainless steel heater in there at the moment because the walls and lid are polystyrene i am hoping to retain heat well it has gone from 18 to 22 degrees water temp today over 9 hours put a huge stump in there today, still floating  and a no tail ice blue adult, he looks lost
spoon
hmm maybe coils of black polythene on the roof to help keep the cost down
livingart
yes spoon my thoughts too i set some 20mm thick walled alkathene up there today and passed flow through it, might need to wire it into the thermostat to stop flow when too hot also on timer to shut down over night when piping will cool
