Overfeeding?

I have a trio of King Killies and was wondering if I am overfeeding them. They are about 7cm at the moment and I usually put about 20 large boatmen in with them, and repeat when they have all gone. (takes them about a day and a half to get through them) I dont think that the boatmen have much nutritional value, and the fish get plenty of exercise chasing them around. Also I give them a cube of bloodworms once a week to share with the kuhli's that are with them. Would it be considered overfeeding?

I assume you are thinking of the old line that "more fish die from overfeeding than underfeeding"?

That is not really about too much food making the fish obese, but too much food either not getting eaten, or getting pooed out and not enough waterchanges to keep the water quality high.

Assuming your water quality is fine, sounds like you probably have a trio of very happy healthy fish ;)

Why don't you think boatmen have much nutritional value? (personally I find bloodworms aren't great nutritionally, at least not for fast-growing fish)

My mudfish still haven't eaten their boatmen. Slackers. The boatwomen are even laying eggs all over the tank now!

Gidday Aaron

You have seen my monster male and he and his 3 girlfriends get half a cube of blood worms a day and when they stop being quite a keen on feeding, I dont feed for a few days. Once a week they get blood worms.

Unless I go away, then its nothing for a week or 10 days
