alanmin4304
Someone (who shall remain nameless) offered me a tortoise as a trade on something else but said that there was a two year waiting list. What would the waiting list normally be and how much do they normally sell for? They also indicated they had a smaller variety of blue tongue available---anyone know about these? livingart
there is a waiting list on tautasses as they are in demand and sell anywhere from $500 up to 1,000's depending on species, age and sex

Steph
Hey alanmin4304, could you possibly get them to email me privately? If they can't it's alright, must have many people wanting them if they have a two year waiting list! 8) Never heard of a smaller blue tongue, must be pretty rare! Lucky person! Wouldn't be surprised if they do get very expensive, not as many as there used to be. And the demand for them seems to be going up. Thanks for the help everyone 8)
snake kid
yep for the mini blue tounges they are called pygmy brown blue tounge skinks and are apparently very difficult to come by even in countries where reptiles are normal pets

David R
Curse the stupid authorities for making leopard tortoises containment only!!!   Auckland zoo are putting eggs in the freezer because they aren't allowed to sell the young (would be a nice little earner for them too), and Ti Point have got a few little ones, they're so damn cute too!! livingart
make an application for general release
2young
Hi Livingart, not really interested in the breeding, just a mate for my male. I wouldn't mind get a few babies tortoise instead for $2,000 each
Dixon1990
http://bluetongueskinks.net/bpygmy.htm This the pygmy ones that are 'here'?
David R
make an application for general release Good idea, didn't realise there was even a process/possibility of that. It sounds easier than becoming a zoo....
livingart
better than freezing the eggs, will create revenue for the zoo to put back into reptiles or natives

repto
that really peeves me off!the only reason they were able to breed them in the first place was from the old lady from dunedin(I think?) who had the male that she had brought in years ago,if thats not private hands I don`t know what is? David R
Maybe we should start a petition, could possibly get the might of the catholic church behind it, after all they are anti-abortion...

Iszac
http://bluetongueskinks.net/bpygmy.htm This the pygmy ones that are 'here'? I really doubt they are here, seeing as though they were thought to be extinct for so long, more likley to be either blotched bluetongues or centralian bluies
