dwalk
I just found my heater tank has been off for a whole week in my Cichlid tank, fish seem ok, but very lethargic. Am I better to heat the water fairly quickly, via water changes, or is it better to just let the water heat up gradually?
Afrikan
Definately gradually, just plug heater back in, instantly adding warm water straight away will give your fish a huge shock.
livingart
so you haven't had a hand in the tank for a week then ? gradual is my call too, less chance of problems
Caryl
Just plug it back in and let the temp warm up at that pace
Lynnie
Heat it up slowly. Gee your very lucky your in Levin, if you were down here in the South Island they may have frozen to death with no heater. Good luck.
dwalk
I've been lucky, I heated the water back up over several hours, I added a 2nd heater, and there have been No Losses Lithobates, Demasoni, Elec yellows and Bn's seem to cope OK with 1 week without a heater. Thou i'm not about to repeat this
