Dixon1990
What kind of fish do you have? My barbs, loaches and bristlenoses like spinach leaves, peas, corn, courgette & cucumber. How you cook them first?
whetu
I cook the peas and corn, but the spinach leaves, courgette and cucumber are raw. Sometimes I'll put a fancy (frilly) lettuce leaf in there too. They don't seem to pay much attention to parsley though.
mumzy50
I cook peas, corn. Spinach i just blanch and squeeze water out and put in cubes and freeze .Cucumber and courgette just put fork through and drop in.
rollergirl
I do the same with courgette, cucumber etc and also occasionally mix very finely chopped fresh garlic into their frozen food, supposed to be good for their immune system Also feed chopped frozen shrimp and mussel meat (so cheap from Pak N Save- costs like $3 for a months worth of shrimp!) Dixon1990
If i mixed up some Grated and choped up Veges and shrimp and froze it would this be alright ot feed them?
Cheesejawa
Most veges cannot be eaten at first by fish or will not sink unless boiled or steamed first. Just put the veges in a dish of water in the microwave for 3-4mins. Put them in cold water for a bit to let them cool down then put in the tank. Works with mushrooms too which BNs and plecos love. MarkLB
If i mixed up some Grated and choped up Veges and shrimp and froze it would this be alright ot feed them? Yeah. There're some recipes around that also have gelatine in them to hold it together. I did a quick Google....this is just one of many, http://www.aquariumlife.net/projects/di ... od/112.asp Here's the rest  http://www.google.co.nz/search?sourceid ... +fish+food

kiwipete
I simply get frozen peas, warm them in my hands and remove the skin by squeezing them. Then drop them in the tank. Plecks and Clowns love them.

Caper
doch wrote: my fish love cucumber they get a slice evry day and chopped shrimp Is this in addition to flakes, that is if the kind of fishies you have eat flakes :-? Do cory's eat peas? I tried mine with them before and just now, they don't seem interested. But I did manage to get the peas where I can see if they are eaten. Ages ago I tried to feed my barbs and red eye tetras peas, didn't go for it at all! This evening I thought I'd try to get a bit to sink in the front so I could see if my otto would eat it (did have 3, 1 went to fishy heaven, have to wait till I do major clean to see if one is hiding). Anyway, the minute I dropped the pea in a barb grabs it! Spits it out, then goes for it again  So, try another...same thing! Needless to say, poor otto won't get a taste I guess. My only concern is I didn't break them up really small since I thought it would only end up sinking...could the barbs choke on them????? Afrikan
Do you take the shell off the pea Caper, like just feed the inner?
Caper
Yep, I put them in the microwave then take them out of their shell. When I give them to my goldies I usually just break them up a bit (I don't "mash them up alot") again scared they'd choke, but I didn't in this tank because the barbs weren't interested before. whetu
Caper, I never break up the peas when I feed them to my barbs and (so far!) nobody has choked. That's not to say they can't choke! But yeah they seem to do ok picking them up & spitting them out until a bit breaks off that's small enough to swallow.
