Charlie
I have 9 2ft tanks, and 9 30cm Cube tanks. I have one large air pump and a allot of sponge filters. I want a rack system where I can do this... 1ft, 1ft, 1ft 1ft, 1ft, 1ft 2ft , 1ft 2ft , 1ft 2ft , 1ft Then on another rack... 3ft , 1ft 1ft, 1ft, 1ft, 1ft 2ft , 2ft 2ft , 2ft 4ft (125Long, 45Wide, 50cm High) What is the best way to do this? I am thinking just a simple wooden rack. Can anyone design this with that programme? What thickness wood should I use?
Wok
Agreat free program that is VERY VERY easy to use is Google sketchup. you can do 3d drawings really easy.
Nana Luke
It'd be pretty tall wouldn't it? Mission to clean the higher ones? and the ones underneath - unless you can slide them out somehow but that would un balance the whole thing. I can imagine a 2 level rack. but maybe not 4. Would get bloody heavy too. Heaps of leveragefor it to topple over with a slight knock. Just cut the glass up and glue it all together to make one humugous tank?!?! HOWZAT? Good luck any way. Would look incredible to see it done.
ryanjury
I have gone 4 high in my fishroom and the tanks on the floor are hard to maintain and I have to get on a chair to get into the top tanks.. But it is very effecient on space.. I have 4 level stands you can get from any hardware shop the one I have is the smaller one and each shelf measures around 75cm's by 30ish and can hold 150kg's.. You can get bigger versions which may or maynot suit you when they're on special its probably going to work out cheaper than buying wood and mucking around making them.. David R
Hmm, 5 1' tall tanks, 4" timber plus at least a 6" gap to allow maintanence (more would be better) is going to be over 9' tall. Back to the drawing board unless you've got tall ceilings and like cleaning tanks on a ladder....
Barrie
my stands are welded steel and are 4 high. I have left not enough room above the tanks and putting my fat arms in them is a pain in the nether region the bottom tanks are very hard to maintain and water changes are done by running a syphon hose ouside. PM me you email and I will send a photo of the stands to you to have a look at first if your in Auckland, get in touch and come around to have a look
AMAZONIAN
Hi All I suggest that you consider a welded steel stand and get it Powder Coated for long time use. This a a piccy of a couple of my tank racks.
Charlie
how much did the poweder coat stands cost?
AMAZONIAN
Hi All, the large white stands cost @150.00 each and the blue stand $40.00. I thought that was a very reasonable price as the coating adds years to the life of the steel.
