I have two 4 ft Sylvania Growlux T8 lights on my 5ft tank plus another ordinary 4ft bulb. The plants seem to be growing fine but I would like more light on the tank. Adrienne Posted March 24, 2008 Author Report Share Posted March 24, 2008 On this tank the cost isn't really an issue. However I can't suspend lights from the ceiling as we don't own this house. The other thing is that the tank has a wooden frame (without a lid) around the top of it and the lights would have to fit within this which means they pretty much have to sit right on the glass supports that go across the top of the tank. Adrienne Posted March 25, 2008 Author Report Share Posted March 25, 2008 The extra lights not for the plants, the tank has a black back to it and the pigeon discus tend to hang out near the back of the tank.
