setting up for a blue tongue

Hey all,

Decided to get a blue tongue lizard, and have ordered a tank 900x450x450 to start with.

Now i need to set up with lights, heating ect.

Visited hollywood fish farm in mt roskill this morning to price up some bits.

So far ive decided i need,

exo terra ceramic heat lamp, im guessing on a 100w size, any reccomendations?

and either a 2ft reptile tube or 1 or 2 of the 23w reptile lamps that screw into normal ES fittings

Any other places that sell this gear, possibly for cheaper? Not going to post prices but pm me if you want to know.

Things like fittings, starters, ballasts ill sort out elsewhere or through work

Havent bought the critter yet either, looking at one on trade me, cant seem to find them for sale anywhere else?

Also wouldnt necessarily say no to having a bearded dragon, just seems the lizard needs less fuss.

Sorry for all the questions

Cheers

Louis

Thanks for the pm's everyone

Now have the tank, got a 1200 long one instead as recommended by others.

Just getting a couple of lights sorted, and have got aspen for the bedding.

Now need a lizard. There's 2 people selling at the moment on trademe that I've seen.

One lot were born in 1st december, and are closer to me to pick up,

other dark black/grey looking ones born early march but are in masterton. (I'm in Auckland).

Can anyone suggest for/against getting the older ones, been told its best to get them young, but for a beginner, are they easier when slightly older?

Thanks all,

Louis
