stuwalters
What is the best way to clean driftwood either of the beach or river for a freshwater discus tank. Thanks
Ira
Hose it off, throw it in the tank.
alanmin4304
If it is from the beach soak it for a day in water to get rid of the salt
Caryl
I just hose it off, give it a light scrub with an old nail brush, hose it off again then add it to the tank. Check out the nooks and crannys for little critters, excess sand, or egg sacs.

Ianab
And how long does driftwood take to sink? I have a 80l bucket full of floating wood Depends what the wood is and how dry it is when you get it. Some wood is so dense it just will never float, some of the Aussie Eucalypts are denser than water - when they are DRY. Others will take months to become waterlogged. :-? bdspider
Mines mainly willow I think. It was found high on the beach, so is pretty dry. Damn, maybe I should give up and just buy some wood.
