Casper
Just Curious, do you think there would me much of a market for these little guys? we have a breeding pair that just wont stop! have only raised one batch of fry so far, but would really love to save the others instead of leaving them to be picked off the the clown loaches! i know they can be quite fierce, especially when it is breeding, but a beautifull fish none the less Just wondering if these guys are acutally sellable? paul_r
I think that yes people would buy them. I have eight and they are the funnest tank to watch. Have an awesome personality. They also have lots n lots of color. Might pay to warn potential buyers of their risks though
jim r
I have been trying to give them away for months and up till now only 1 person has accepted my offer and took 8.
paul_r
they have grown tons and are starting to get their color. At the moment my guppies are more agressive then the jewels. Some Jewels are maybe 5cm +/- a bit and if i somehow lost my jewels i would buy some more. One of my fav fish i can sit watching them for ages. I havnt seen any jewels being advertised, only ever seen a sick looking one at a LFS. Maybe if they were being advertised then they would be easier to sell/get rid of .... surely im not the only person who regards jewels as one of their fav fish, alot of freinds see the jewels and want some however after explaining that they can get really agressive puts a few people off, others go and get new tanks specifically for jewels and then cannot find any. Casper
hrm, might have to duck into a couple of the LFS and see if they would like any geeze the're not as vicious as eveyone thinks! ours a really mellow, unless you go near the babies ... which is understandable! They Grow to about 10-15cm, absolutly stunning fish, but can be agressive when they have eggs or younglings around

markvs
Has anyone tried them with neons? I used to have them in a tank with them only, and I ended up using them as Oscar food...
paul_r
i dont think neons or any small fish for that matter would be suitable. my jewels are still small, 5cm max and they get fed plattys and guppies, the plattys are eaten up in a matter of seconds
