morfin
Hi there We currently have a FLUVAL Vincenza tank which has the plumbing already for a Fluval filter. The Fluval 205 canister came with it, but being a 190litre tank this is right at the max for the 205 (up to 200 litres). We have been experiencing a bacterial bloom and one suggestion was that the tank may not be turning over as much as it needs to. So I was looking at the Fluval 405 (up to 400 litres), but does anyone know if the set up such as the aquastop valve, hoses etc is the same and we could just change the canisters over? Ira
I think the 400s use a lot bigger tubing than the 200s.
henward
they all hav eit and if you buy a new 405 cmpared to a old one, i am sure the new one will have fancier features algae wont really be helped by filter i do not think, once you have a massive algae problem, filter wont help much in my experience. morfin
It's not an algae bloom, we actually have surprisingly little algae, but it is a newish tank at 8 and a half weeks and we had a slight filter issue which caused ammonia for two days until we realised what was going on. I think this might have caused the tank to go into a bacterial bloom - we had one just over a month ago as well. But aside from that, the filter does seem to be near it's limit and I thought it would be a good idea to go bigger
purplecatfish
The 105 and 205 series have the same size hoses and connectors which are smaller than the 305 and 405 hoses and connectors. For filtering bigger is definitely better, unless all your fish are pinned to the back wall from the flow  .
Freakyfish
All the AquaStops are the same size I just put the AquaStop from a 305 to a 204 and it fits perfectly Definalty upgrade to the new 405 and this will help your tank a great deal I would change the hosing though to the new one with the 405 Brad
