I'd been looking for these guys for a while after they were pointed out to me by another member of this site ( thanks Alan :) ) and have now managed to produce a good size spawning , i had spawned them a few months ago but only in 2 or 3's this time its in the 20-30's, an awesome little fish .

has anyone else spawned these guys ?

 No I didn't succeed with mine Paul, I got down to one lonely fish, and as you know, they don't breed too well likr that.

Maybe I can obtain some that aren't "Shop soiled"

Good one Paul.

While in Auck. I checked most of the "Big" shops up there and none had those in.

I looked real hard too.

I've had an e-mail from Peter Cottle in england who is a renouned expert in Danios and he has told me there had been no confirmed breedings of this fish anywhere in the world and he seems pretty sure that mine is a WORLD first , this just blows me away, he himself has tried to breed them a number of time with no luck. Talk about over the moon ! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Ya hoo Paul

Those were the ones Peter mis-identified too at the Tauranga meeting.

I think at that stage, I hadn't picked up, or anyone else, the difference from your ones that you had previously bred. No spots on the anal fin to the ones that Wok had picked up for me.

We had held up the bags beside one another too.

By the by,

how many species of Danio do you have?

And are they all the available ones in NZ?

There were quite a few on that link you gave. I guess we don't have the devarios here.

The kyathit and your latest one are certainly two of the pretty ones!

I have :

Zebra Danio

Leopard Daini

Danio Kyathit

Danio Sp Burma

Giant Danio

Danglia Danio ( Hard to come by )

panther Danio

Pearl Danio

Glowlight Danio

most are readly avalable in NZ
