Lucid
not sure if it is any help, an agricultural store may have them, or even try a hyrdroponics store. What size disc are you looking at? B
Ira
How about a water filtration place, like microlene? I know there are water filters that use a porous ceramic cartridges, don't know if one of those would work or could be hacked up to work. Aquarium Dude
Cant you get ceramic disc filter medium?
Brianemone
Yeah the water purification places and the the hydoponics sound like a goos idea. I was thinking of a simple inverted bell design, it shouldnt be all that hard to make but if i struggle to find the ceramic peice i might just import as they are only about 50$ landed
fishboi
What size disc are you looking at? yeah i might have some lying around u can have.
Faran
A local guy broke a glass and ceramic diffuser while mounting it in his tank. We tried repairing it but the too-thin glass kept cracking while manipulated. You can try and get his disc and may even be able to patch up the whole thing if you're not too scared. As you said, they're pretty cheap to buy these days, almost half the price they were last year at this time.
Brianemone
yeah i might have some lying around u can have. At the moment I'm not really fused about the size as making the first one would just be an experiment
SpidersWeb
I know this isn't terribly constructive in regards to the topic, however Elite make a 200L/hr filter thats very small and has an air line intake and only costs about $25, it doesn't take up much room and doesn't make too much current but when connected to CO2 it does a really good job of mixing and distributing. Using this I get my plants (swords, java fern and others) in a 200L planted tank to pearl from a single 2.25L DIY yeast mix. The filter is on a timer with the lights (5 x 4ft T8 6500K). alanmin4304
They use diffusers in machines for carbonating the water used in the postmix type machines that add the extras to your spirits in the pub. See what they use. I had a home made one years ago and it used a kitchen sink sponge, not the foam pads that stay flexible but the ones that go stiff when dry. It worked a treat. quack
there was some on trade me but carnt find them now must of closed, they were $60 with 8 coils and a ceramic disc. Spidersweb, does the little filter make much noise from the co2 going through the impellar.
SpidersWeb
It doesn't go through the impeller, its just one of those venturi setups. I find its silent unless I've shaken up the CO2 mix hehehe
