Caryl Posted December 4, 2006 Report Share Posted December 4, 2006 Just took it a few moments ago - excuse the mess :oops: Unit is 3.6m (12 feet) wide and floor to ceiling at one end of the lounge. I designed it to fit specific items eg tank, Ansonia clock, hookah pipe, stereo (no longer there) and stereo speaker. Cupboards at right hand end are full of records (remember those large black vinyl things?) under tank has fish buckets at one end and games at the other and left hand cupboards have large canister filter plus all the other aquatic gear you tend to acquire. :roll: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

PETEYPLECO Posted December 5, 2006 Report Share Posted December 5, 2006 Try to avoid those MDF or Particle Board units as the weight of the tank may flatten it. Try some secondhand stores for one of those older solid timber desks or drawer units, depending on the size of your tank it should live. stompa Posted December 7, 2006 Report Share Posted December 7, 2006 will be fine as long as are able to put bracing in the right places.... i only used 12mm mdf on my last one with 55 x 30mm pine bracing and its holding 500kgs with ease.. PETEYPLECO Posted December 7, 2006 Report Share Posted December 7, 2006 AAAWWWW your making me nervous ! ! I can just see a wet floor, broken glass and little fishes flaping around. Sorry MDF may last but I prefer "a brick SH__THOUSE" to place my tank on. I have my 36Gal tank on a solid timber unit and this I reinforced with bracing uprights and used additional screws to ensure nothing comes apart. You must also make sure the area the tank is placed on remains level even with a sheet of foam underneath - MDF has a well know problem of bowing / warping.
