Duke
I thought I would share my water collection method. I use a 800w generator from Super Cheap $100 + a L6 pump conected to a long hose, put the pump in to water and start the gen and bingo, fill all my containers and go home. Nice and simple. Dont need much, aiming for 70-100 l per collection. All theory, practice will tell-refine. Chrs tom

Pies
I brought a 1200 gallon per hr bulge pump of trademe. I plug it onto the car batt, chuck it in the water, and fill my containers. Much easier and cheaper. Cost $39 + hose ($12.00 Mico Pipelines). Beat that. Pie

Ira
My setup cost me about $10 total. Basically same setup as Duke. Generator I already had so it cost me 0, got the PJ5000 pond pump free, and piping cost me maybe $10. Don't use it anymore, I've gone to ASW. suphew
I'm looking to do the same. What containers do you guys use? 20l jerry can's seem to be the best, the 25l ones are just a bit too heavy.
Ira
Yup, I found that too. If you don't have to lug everything up the beach to your car it probably doesn't make a difference, but the 20s are just a bit easier to handle.
Duke
Ah the generator is also for power back up and it good to run it every couple of weeks. Other wise when you need it it won't go. The hose is about 4m. There is a plastic container shop on Nelson st - Penrose which sell 20l and 25l containers. $13 for the 20L. I collect 200l at a time once a month.
