puttputt
um, what do you think Reef, redsea vs Deltec.
jetskisteve
Funny you ask Brendan i have both in stock and have used both in the past and i can honestly say they are equal :-? although the MCE600 sometimes can be noisy according to a few on this site, ask Ira
bychineva
hi steve , i think the deltec could fit under the sump but im just thinking how much room i will need to remove the cup...the redsea should fit with no problems......i think i would need to come over and measure it...and see which one would be the quiet operator.... reef
The Deltec is by far a better skimmer. Here is an updated review of the Deltec hang on. Do a web search? You should find that the Deltec mice 600 is a very good skimmer. All mce600 have new parts so they don’t make much noise. The mce600 was nosey in the past however Deltec owners have had replacement parts posted out to help with the noise. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2006/7/review
jetskisteve
No offence but have you ever tried the pro skimmer? as i said I'm using one at the mo on a 400L & it pulls out as much as the deltec i had.
reef
No offence but i really doubt you have any idea how skimmers work. The last time you said seios where better than a stream.

misnoma
This thread is going places  My deltec was noisy, however the silencing bits that i got sent for it sorted that pretty much. I haven't tried a red sea, so can't speak for it however.
jetskisteve
My point exactly, Simon would you like to do an unbiased test or wasp maybe. I'll lend you a Prizm pro for you to compare to your MCE. Maybe then the Importer and the parallel Importer(me) would know for sure
reef
I think the review pretty much covered that the Deltec was the best hangon skimmer. Resale value is also so much better. None of the parallel Imported Deltecs are covered by warranty as Deltec will not cover them.
reef
Here is a review for the red sea skimmer http://www.pethobbyist.com/petproductreview/view.php?id=6 The bottom line is that you pay for what you get. Any skimmer will skim however will they skim consistently in the long term.
cookie extreme
go the red sea i say. i use 2 berlin classic, no noise, no breakdown, no hassles, and they do skim pretty good. and they are cheap at present because so many wanna be deltec's upgrade (it seems to be cool to belong to "the" club  ) but then again deltec is a pretty good skimmer too! has to be its german. tel
save yourself some dosh and get the cheapie....with laser printers its a snip to make a Deltec sticker for it anyway. with a good copy of the sticker the resale value will be about the same. reef
and they do skim pretty good You Forgot to mention that you have a 50,000L pump running them The German quality is of course the best.
Ira
I'm not particularly impressed with my MCE600. But maybe only because I have nothing to compare it to. Hey, Steve, I'll volunteer for the comparison. Mine whistles quite a bit, but that's the only noise it makes.
puttputt
Deltec are great skimmers, load of bull that people get them to be in some sort of club  , people get them because they work extremely well, and yes i've had other skimmers. TM
the red sea prizm are crap, not worth the money, waste of time and they preform like shit. Different story about the classics but still crap compared to many others, the chamber volume is wasted by all those pointless baffels and cones and other crap. don't waste your money, couldn't give the things away. Go the Timtec, only way to go

TM
deltec by far, red sea won't last the distance. get from where ever you want but make sure they can give you a warrinty and keep the recipt, even with the shops.
