  1. Should you always soak flake food first as opposed to just sprinkling on top of water. I've always just sprinkled it on but there was a site I checked out that was posted here (for goldfish, if that makes a difference) and it stated that all food should be soaked for it to sink. If not, could cause problems like swim bladder.
  2. Wow...how did you know that Bluetom?
  3. Gee, wish I knew your money compared to ours because $2000 would be a lot money here for a fish tank. Mind you it is beautiful!
  4. Thanks Caryl & Jude! I never thought of that Jude...and have seen it in the dept. store!
  5. Hi Blueand Kim! It was actually me who brought this topic back (Penejane has decided to go with the guppies for now). I did see those 2 sites. So, it's great to know that they can be in a community tank. Dept. store told me I couldn't have them in a community tank as they were very aggressive and would probably eat my tetras. BILLANEY So, what can you tell me about your experience with them?
  6. So...does anyone have any experience/knowledge with sailfin mollies?
  7. Went looking...don't know if this helps?
  8. Off topic but had to say...Ironside..."kiwis" are great, a great bunch of people here. They have treated me like one of their own & I'm not even on the same side of the world
  9. Ok...so sometimes its more of territorial thing then as opposed to...I'M GOING TO KILL YOU! Does the absence of females make a difference, I ask since I don't want females? Just noticed Caryl...someone has my secret name "nervous wreck"
  10. Oh my 100 guppies....800 guppies...ohhhhhhh Do you folks breed to sell...or...breed to have an excuse to keep on with the disease MTS
  11. Thanks Caryl...I thought they were one in the same...not of the same family :-?
  12. From what I've been reading, just about any fish can become aggressive...is that true? But I though platies were considered non-agressive. I'm hoping, if I can get something other than red wag to add more to my tank but I only want males. So what happened with Chakuna's, males attacking males, is this more of an unsual thing as compared to the "norm"?????
  13. Uhh...I thought pacu's were piranhas...there not?
  14. Ahh...you've got it don't you...no doc can cure it either....MTS
  15.      Oh...I've been known to have that feeling as well :-? :-?
  16. OH MY Are you serious, is that what they maybe trying to do as opposed to a game of chase
  17. Very nice to say the least...look forward to more pics. You folks amaze me...are you sure you're not all scientists of some sort
  18. Looks great Personally I like different colors. Ahhh...maybe I'm in my second childhood I'd check here regarding lighting. Anybody can correct me please if I'm wrong, but I thought fish needed lighting for a certain amount of time, or is that just for tropicals? I have a heck of time getting decent pics...there is a post here somewhere that gives suggestions on getting good pics...but I don't remember where it is...maybe somebody else (including author) can tell us? How big is your tank? And what fish are in it now?
  19. Thanks Penejane Guppies are really cute aren't they...the 2 I have...well, it almost seems like they are playing chase sometimes, could they be? So, is there anybody out there that has sailfin mollies and if you would recommend them for a community tank (platy, guppy, tetras so far)? Checking what I can on the net.
  20. Thanks Caryl! I've always been told I am a worrier

    Heat-fan?

Hmmm...that's a couple of times this evening I went to post a reply & ended up with "page cannot be displayed"! Anyway, you're cold...I am cooked...since fan is on fish tank   ...Must get another fan Thanks I'm really excited about having 2 tanks. I've been doing ok with this hobby or at least I think I am  but I owe it mostly to you folks for all your help I never thought I'd see the day I'd have 1 tank let alone 2! When I need to get an algae eater for new tank, do you think a bristlenose would be too big?
  22. Great...love seeing people tanks
  23. Thanks mustcooktea I was going to ask those questions about the peas as a new post but since it was brought up here I thought it would be ok? I wonder if I should do that one day fast, I feed twice a day every day. When I bought my first fish, the lady at the pet store said do 1 day no feeding, but I wasn't too sure about that since she told me I could put tropicals in with the goldfish! I was just checking on the net re:peas & ottos...it says veggies but nothing about peas...anybody know if I can use the peas? Sam is bigger than my new fantail (Puff) and gets to the food fairly fast. Is it possible to make sure that each one gets at least one pea, although, 2 might be ok for Sam if size is an indication of how many peas??

    Heat-fan?

Work...hmm....what season are you folks in now? If so, would this be a slow time of year for you? I'm doing ok...thanks What about the lights? Can I turn them off sooner at least in the 10 gallon because of the heat? I don't know if you have seen...but...I have a second tank I love this hobby!
