    Ammonia

Try not to give up Maxy...the people here are really great to help us newbies...I guarantee they will help you through this
  2. Thanks Steve! So I've got the right fish...and anemone. I love those fish...and the blue tangs, I think they are so pretty. I've seen so many beautiful fish in your pics here. Yah...I just do not understand why they won't stay still to get their pics taken...I guess they just don't understand "don't move"
  3. OMG...when I WATCH the fish...not when I was the fish...see I am loosing it   But what about the nitrites Shae...is .3 acceptable. I just did a water change and will test later....WITHOUT...stressing myself out :-? Thanks for the understanding...it is appreciated!
  4. Thanks Chimera The clown fish are the "nemos" right? Yah, I have noticed in the pics, if I've got the right fish...they're hiding in the...ah... the anemones are the long looking tentacles, sorry, don't know what else to call them! I'd love to have a saltwater someday...but that would be far off in the future! Thanks again
  5. Thank you Shae...I want to get another tank...just can't do it right now. I test once a week and everything seems to be okay so far Ammonia 0 pH 7.2 nitrites .3 Should the nitrites be lower? And you are right...I want so bad for this to work...that I'm stressing myself out Thanks for the help Shae Oh...and the irony is...when I was the fish...it helps me escape from the other stresses in my life right now...go figure!!!!!
  6. I really appreciate you all answering my questions...thank you soooo much so...what the guy on the net said is true then...you can have a marine tank without any other "living" creature (coral, anemones, etc.)...only fish? Thanks for the patience guys
  7. So...just to make sure I'm understanding...reef has just coral or coral & fish. You can have a saltwater/marine tank without coral? I saw somewhere on the net some guy had a marine tank with nothing "living" in it but the fish...so this is possible? I don't mean to interfere here guys...but you guys know so much about this stuff... Thanks
  8. Congratulations Steve Thanks Pie for explaining to me...I love my little aquarium...but when I see tanks like yours & Steve's...they just blow me away! Of course all the pics I've seen here...salt & fresh...are downright amazing
  9. Just thought I'd add this...the flakes seem to be falling to the bottom faster than they used to...or I'm loosing my mind I still have the same bottle that I bought originally in March...would they still be good? I know nothing lasts forever...but I don't see an expiry date on them...any help would be appreciated! Ingredients: fish meal, plankton, shrimp meal, soy flour, laver aquatic plant, kelp, oat flour, yeast, cod fish meal, fish liver, chlorophyll, & a list of vitamins min. crude protein 46% min. crude fat 5% min. crude fiber 2% max. moisture 8% Thought I saw something in one of the forums that veggies are impt...is anything listed considered a veggie????...the kelp???
  10. Do you guys mind if I ask questions?...even though I only have a small freshwater tank. In Steve's picture...besides the fish...is everything else in the tank "living"? Sorry know nothing but what I see here...and very confusing...but so amazed when I see these tanks! I asked somewhere here before...what is the difference with saltwater, marine & reef...are they the same? I know there are freshwater fish and saltwater...do saltwater live in all 3 I've mentioned above?
  11. Billaney...in case I've never told you...your tanks are amazing...that red betta, WOW The pics where the bettas are together, mating ritual? Above them, is that what is called a bubble nest?
  12. Yesterday and today...except my goldfish...they don't seem to be eating like they normaly do...they are eating...but don't seem to be eating as much...doing water change tonight (Monday here:)) Is this normal...usually they go for the food like they are starving? Thanks in advance...everybody have a good evening...it's off to work I go
  13. oh my gosh....amazing...beautiful...wow...you folks never cease to amaze me...that is just an...oh my gosh tank! How big is your tank...how many fish...amazing...just amazing! Other pics of your tanks...where?
  14. Misnoma...so that is a fish sticking out of his mouth? Do oscars eat only live fish?
  15. Our money is less than the US...it fluctuates day to day...but someone here...sorry, forget who...said that there wasn't much difference New Zealand and Canada. I'd love to get a bigger tank...but I just don't know where I'd put it...space is limited. But I am going to call glass places just to see if they do it...there is only 1 pet store & 2 department stores that sell tanks here...and they buy them from...I guess you'd say name brand companies that come as a kit. But now that you mention it...I'd say some of the ones I saw in Halifax were made somewhere there.
  16. Thanks again suphew! Thank heavens there wasn't a leak...I had moved something in the tank & didn't realize that I had spilled water...almost had a stroke when I thought it was leaking! I don't know if any of the glass places here build tanks...but its worth looking into. When I was in Halifax I saw a 55 gallon...would love to get that size...but I don't have a lot of space here. It was a pet store & the price for just the tank itself was $180...is that a reasonable price???

    Dead Neon

Thanks suphew I think I might let the change go until tomorrow after all...ah...Monday that is! Give the new fishies another day to settle in. Would you say that my tank is overstocked now? I'm hoping that'll be able to get another tank soon...but not sure when.

    Dead Neon

Sorry...I guess I should have posted under the other "dead neon"
  19. How big Snowman? What is the smallest you can go with for a hospital/quarantine tank? Since you have to have fish in a tank to keep it cycling...am I right...you would always keep a couple in it...or not...since it would be used for when you get new fish or put a sick fish in...am I making sense????? So, Jude it sounds like you are right...tank, heater, no gravel...mmm...would still need a filter right? AND neither of you mentioned...but guessing...water...just kidding   Thanks for the help as always
  20. I take it with goldfish....everything is a vegetable  Caryl...are there different kinds of plants that you see floating on the top of aquariums...or is it the water sprite that you're talking about Is water sprite...light green....white on the edges....root on the end...but they just hang on top of water?????

    Ammonia

Darn...wish I could help you. Make sure you post your tank size...how many fish...kind of fish...so those with experience will know what you're dealing with...the more information you can give them...the better they can help.
  22. Sorry Maxy...I wish I could help...I'm sure someone here will be able to though. I lost a neon tonight...Penejane is right on...sad to watch them...
  23. :-? If they are vegetarians, how come they will eat other fish?
