  1. That's a good idea. Then when you're sitting in the plane at the bottom of the Strait, you'll be able to say "Hey, I saw one of those in the departure lounge!!" Alan 104
  2. Bananalobster, note the name at the end of the URL. This is just another reason that scientific names should be used. Mistakes CAN'T be made then, when identifing the fish.
  3. Forget ya Stresscoat and use your air. It won't take long and why use chemicals when you don't need too also. Throw away money and use your Cycle as well. Just put a shrimp in and (dead) let it break down, that will give you your start to your cycling process. Alan 104

    Apistogramma

Stu, what are the EHT of the A. panduro. I have a spawning of them. Well, the female has. Only had them set up from last Sat. evening-Sun. morning. They are the ones that Paul brought up when he came to see Peter Cottle. Fins crossed Alan 104
  5. Just did a quick search and came up with this. Alan 104

    Red Badis

??????????????? Wow, this is an old thread. Last Saturday, when several of us were treated to a visit by Peter Cottle at the Western Bay Club, the same fish was shown in his presentation of him catching the same fish, in the wild. When I saw his pics it brought back memories, although I wasn't able to breed the little jewels. Alan 104

    ALTUM ANGELS

That's a real bummer E. As the true Altums are so hard to get, what with all these so called altums coming in. Good to hear that she has left you a brood to hopefully carry on where she left off. Alan 104
  8. I'd use a hospital tank with water from it's tank. Less shock for it. Then net the fish, and while in the net, apply methelene blue, directly onto the wound. Do this over the Q tank, as any surplus will be there waiting for when you now release the fish. Keep the tank dark to try and alleviate any panicing. Why doesn't she join the site and then we can deal directly with her. I too am concerned with her discription of "tank cleaning". Alan 104
  9. Thankyou Alan, from Alan. I was close tho. Alan 104
  10. Isn't sodium thiosulfate used as a sterilizer in home-brewing??? Alan 104
  11. Get a guy to have a look at it for you Sharn. Al ducks the flying shoes Alan 104
  12. So as not to damage it yourself Sharn and loose the ability to claim on it, take it back from whence your bought it and say, "Fix it!!" Alan 104
  13. I would have had straps on each end as well. All straps would have been UNDER the side runners. Good effort tho. Alan 104
  14. Yes Trout Pellets are fine for them. If they are really new (as from the manufacturing factory) pellets tho, feed sparingly as they swell and can bloat the fish. Also, same as usual, don't over feed as left over food will pollute the environment. Alan 104
  15. 12 pizzas later, with 38 in attendance. Visitors traveled from Wellinton, Auckland, Taupo, Hamilton, and Whakatane. I got in home at 11.30 and are still working on getting my new fish into their tanks. Oh I missed two of our visitors, of course, they were Peter and Sheila from England. Lovely to catch up with you two again, and we'll hopefully see you next time your over. Have a great holiday while your in NZ. Alan 104
  16. The colour of the "Shack" makes it stick out. Shouldn't be hard to find. Looks like a similar address on that site too Gannet. Alan 104

    Angel Fry

If I had a batch like that, I'd syphon of prolly about half; that doesn't disturb the parents too much, and leave the rest with the M&D to raise. That way you get the best of both worlds, and the ones that are parent-raised will in my experience grow quicker and bigger. Alan 104
  18. I think it will depend on what you are wanting to treat Noto. I did a google search and came up with this:- Results 1 - 10 of about 797 for Discus and potassium permanganate. (0.17 seconds) Lots to look at, and better understood by you reading than me trying to explain. Well that takes care of your Thursday evening doesn't it?? Alan 104
  19. Ven. stop thinking about it so much. My delete finger is getting sore. Anyway, just give him the bill, it is him causing the problems isn't it?? Alan 104
  20. Just think. If you got a divorce, then you could downsize to a single bed. Walla More room for tanks. I have seen it done and also done it myself, just put them straight into the new environment. Both ways too. Just make sure that the temperature is the same. They hate chilling. Alan 104
  21. Looks like they may prefer live food. Try them on mossie larvae and also white worms, flies are also starting to appear, and they'd munch down on them too. If they are a pair, they should start getting that happy look in their eyes on that diet. Alan 104

    Red Parrot

Why support such a mutation part of the industry. If they don't sell, we'll get "proper" fish in. They should stay in the LFS until they realize no one wants them IMO. I'm with you on this one Sharn. Alan 104
  23. Matt, hit ya "caps lock" you are doing what the internet says is shouting. Alan 104
