  1. Well, after posting this they seem to have calmed down - they still hang out at the front of the tank, but aren't going mental quite so much - I guess they were just stressed/excited about moving into a new tank. Same thing happened when I moved my stripey khulis from one tank to the other (actually they moved themselves.. but that's another story) They calmed down once I put them back in their original tank. thanks all
  2. The pH is slightly high, around 7.2, and the temperature is also pretty high at about 27 C. But there's plenty of other kuhli loaches in there and they are happy as.. theres several stripies and one "red" kuhli loach. Also four dwarf chain loaches and a hillstream loach (who seems happy enough in the higher temp.)
  3. Same thing as the cories.. these guys are new additions to the tank, they've been in for about a week now, and they've been circling like this the whole time. At first all four were doing it, but now it's mainly these two. They do stop when they are fed, but still seems strange to me.. is it spawning behaviour? There's about 8 more stripey kuhli loaches in the tank, who I usually only see at feeding time.
  4. dear fish forom gurus. could you tell me what is going on with my cories? I bought another 4 to go with my existing 4, (although one recently died) and now one of them is hovering in the corner.. and it just looks weird seeing a cory "hover" like that.. are they trying to spawn? that would be very cool! thanks!
  5. Get a team of ottocinclus! (ottocincli?) Go team otto!
  6. Hi All, I have two Aquaone 380 tanks - one is second hand and quite old, while the others about 4 months new. I have only had the "old" one for about a month. The newer tank has the power compact fluro light, which is really good and I get great plant growth, and the other one has the old style 8w (I think) single fluro rod - pretty crap light, and it's showing on the plant growth (or lack thereof). I was wondering if anyone has converted from the old style to the new power compacts? What would be involved? A new ballast and a new socket I guess? As a temporary measure I've swapped the hoods over to give the plants a chance to get going - but I'd like a permanent solution. Perfect solution would be if someone had one with a powercompact hood where the tank has cracked or something.. but I won't hold my breath! Cheers, Oskar

    Greetings Everyone!

I had to take the water bridge after I got my female betta - The male fighter loved cruising back and forth between the tanks, sometimes he'd stop up the top and seem to take in the view. But I wanted them to have their own space in each tank. In answer to your questions, yes the two tanks have their own filters so there was no real flow through the pipe, so I guess the water in there would stagnate after time. Although when doing a water change in one of the tanks the water would flow through the tube from the other tank and the water levels would stay equal, so it would never be extremely old water. The male fighter used the tube the most - also my ottocinclus went back and forth a few time (then I lost one - still havent figured that one out), and i even had a kuhli loach go through. I was initially thinking of modifying the filters and having one tank pump its water into the other tank, then it would flow back through the tube. But for the time being theyre two seperate tanks.

    Greetings Everyone!

Ok, here's some pics of the tanks: The rock tank: Sir Stewart: The planted tank: The "fish bridge": Fish bridge again: Stewart kindly giving us a demo of the fish bridge: Ex-tankmate "Bluey" the cichlid: Motley (looks after the fish when I go out) Might try to get some more pics up sometime with the rest of the fish..
  9. Hi all, My name's Oskar and I'm a returning fish hobbyist (had trop. fish when I was in primary school). Currently I have 2 x Aquaone 380 tanks back to back containing the following fish: 1 x Red Male Siamese Fighter (Stewart) 1 x Brown/Blue Fem. Siamese Fighter (Nora) 3 x Kuhli Loaches 3 x "Red Neon" Loaches 1 x Rainbowfish - I forget what kind he is (Raymond) 6 x Emerald Eyes 2 x Dwarf Hara Hara Catfish 1 x Hillstream Loach / Borneo sucker 1 x Otto (since the mysterious disappearance of the second one) The fish share my time with Ludo and Motley the rats. I will try to get some photos up, either here or in the gallery. I look forward to being part of the forum! Rgds, okki
