  1. i have an adult colony of wild caught Ikola Frontosa. There was a colony of Moba but I think they died.
  2. Im on the lookout for a Frontosa colony. Would prefer mature fish but would consider young fish.
  3. Hi folks. I’m still around .Still a keen fisho. More into marines these days. Still have my Fronts and other tangs. The tank in question is now a marine reef tank, starting to take shape. One of the big differences between corals and plants is ,corals are very slow growing so well take a year or more to start looking good . Compared with a planted tank were it only took a couple of months before I was having to pull out bucket full’s of plants to stop it from being over grown. I do miss that setup. I will post some pic of the new setup soon. PS the plant in question is Valliseria spiralis var contortionist .
  4. Got to level 17 . now my brain hurts . Thanks Ira :-?
  5. All good Ant N . Hoping to get up to the club this Sunday. Been awhile so wont be pretty. How those babies going. I hear what your saying David. I guess the situation to avoid is were a LFS has a tank full of cheep Fronts and an inexperience fish keeper comes along and buys one or two to go in there community c/tank without doing there homework.
  6. Hi Fonty fans. Good to see some breeding success out there. My guys and gals are doing well. Last month I moved them from the 1300 L display tank into there own 1000 L tank. They seem to like it, as there are 3 females holding at the moment. I striped a female last week that had been holding for 35 days and got 30 beautiful fry from her. . This was her first hold so was really surprised how many she held. Who knows were the price of Fronts will end up. My biggest fair is seeing them get to cheep and people not giving them the care they deserve. I saw a lone unhappy front in with a bunch of mbuas the other day. Not a good look. I should have quite a few available in a few months. Send me a PM if you are after some.
  7. Nice one . Hope all goes well . I found my breeding pair to be very good parents . I wish I hadnt them . Put me down for some fry to.

  9. Good to see the little guys arrived safe and well . These guys are around 45 days old .Their bars will darked and will look like mini adults in a couple more weeks Heres a pic of the parents of your fry .
  10. Hi Bilaney. I have breed Corydoras similis before. I did nothing different. Heaps of live food and they grow like weeds.
  11. Defiantly cool fish. I have four. Heres some pics of my pair of golden heads. They have bred a couple of times, but haven’t got passed the wiggler stage. Im sure if I move the pair into there own tank and feed them up on fry they would spawn and raise successfully.

  15. Thanks for the kind words everyone. As they say, variety is the spice of life. So Im sure this tank will go through more changes over the coming years. Maybe an African swamp tank full of killie fish. What do you reckon Alan? Who knows what will tickle my fancy in the future. Thats the beauty of this hobby (addiction).
  16. It’s been awhile since my last post (sounds like a confession) Things have changed in the amazon, the pH has gone up, and the tanganikan s have taken over. The tank is now the happy home of my frontosa colony (3males and 9 females). I still have my discus, which are more than happy in their bare tanks (healthier). I do miss the plants, but the fronts more than make up for them with their personality and behavior. Here are some pics of the tank now. Sorry plant lovers.

  21. These guys are imports from Phill . They are green tigers (more blue than green) :-? . I have 2 pairs of them . So far they have only breed in the big tank were they get their fry to the sides then lose them to the tetras. I plan to move 1 pair into breeding tank soon .
  22. Fantastic looking fish you have there folks. Got the camera out last night and got a couple of shots of some young fish that are starting to look good.
  23. Have a better look Gannet. They are in the same tank as the geophagus surinamensis.
  24. I had a look at some in our lfs here in Pukekohe. They are very skinny as well. Looks like they had a hard time in quarantine. I was reading some info on them and it said they require a 3 month month period each year were you need to drop the temp to 20 C .
