  1. Those PMDD must be doing the trick . Still have plenty of trace element if you need more ?
  2. Shouldnt be to bad . I plan to have good access around the tank . It helps being 6 foot 4 with arms like a gorilla .
  3. Not much to see at this stage . Just a framed wall with a big hole in it . Will post pics when i start building the tank .
  4. The tank is going tobe 2400 x 800 x800 (Glass / Ply ) it is going to be a planted discus tank . The room is ideal ,with the family room on the viewing side and fish room on the other . So access will be good . I will start a new thread once i start building the tank . At this stage i am framing the wall hence the question of tank heights from the floor . I have framed it at 1 meter but could raise it if needed .
  5. Hi . Im in the process of building a in wall tank . What height from the floor do people have . I was thinking of 1 meter .
  6. Photobucket did the trick . Here is a pic of my Male Blue Snakeskin .
  7. Wish i could . Spent hours trying . If i paste url in the bowser as to what blueand kim sugested it works. Why it wont show in post is beyond me . Have tried a couple of hosts with the same result . Can only post a small image . Any ideas . Me and computers arent on the best of terms so keep it simple .

  10. Thanks for reply shilo . Good info in that link . Like the look of your sump what is the media in your dry section ?
  11. I am running a 450 l (planted) and a 300 l (bare)tank filtered by a 100 l baffled sump . I originally designed the sump as a wet / dry filter but i have removed the dry section 1. because it was cooling the water to much and 2. the high gasing of the dry section was raising my pH . My Q is will i get much benifit from a co2 system . My flow rate is not overly high and my outlets are below the surface keeping surface movement to a minimum . The water quality with this system is excellent but plant growth is slow . I dose with pmdd and have plenty of light so i have come to the conclusion co2 is the missing factor . The co2 should also help in keeping my pH down as I keep discus . Anyone out there running a sump and co2 ?
  12. My discus are alittle larger than a CD . The colour of the fish when i brought them were nothing special . But now they are maturing thay are looking great . The other reason they maybe pairing and spawning is i only have 5 discus in a 700 l tank which is filtered through a wet/dry filter , 30 % water changes 2X weekly and feed small amounts 4 times aday (home made ox heart , prawn and veg mix ) . With a feed of white worms every other day . The cloudy fin is on the improve seems like the salt did the trick .
  13. Thanks Discusguru .I agree Water changes is the key to healthy discus . This problem is due to no water changes for a week ( away on holiday ) . I dont think she is a runt .I talked to phill the discusman and he has found the same thing , some spawn young then stop and dont start again until mature . Maybe something to do with the Asian breed strains ?
  14. Thanks Phill . Will give it a try . I will get back to you soon with regards to my order .
  15. I have a six month old colbolt discuse with a couple of white specks surounded by a cloudy patch in the middle of her petrel fin . I have also noticed she sometimes clamps the fin to her body and moves around using only one fin . Have been looking around the web and in books but cant find a match . Fungi ? Parasites ? or Bacteria ? . Other than this patch she is in great shape . Layed her 4th batch of eggs earlyer this week . Any ideas ?
  16. Im keen to put together a co2 system . Have been using a diy yeast system but have found it to much trouble and to small for my 700 l tank. From what i have read you need a bottle , reg , needle valve , diffuser , bubble counter and maybe a valve to turn off co2 at night . The lfs want $1000 + for a system . Not sure were to go to buy all the bits or the prices .
  17. I had problems with my b/nose cleaning my discus . The problem may have been there was no algae in the tank . Will try again .

    Cory Eggs

I removed my cory eggs from the glass without any problems . I put them in a 5 l container suspended in the same tank . I lost about half to fungus . Next time i will add some meth/blue to water . My similiis eggs took 4 days to hatch at 28c and were free swimming after another 3 days . As for shipping to mummy mystic that my be asking a bit much . Change in temp and water conditions may be to much for the developing fry . Maybe someone more local could try raising them ? What kind are thay .
  19. Maybe your feeding to much , or your mix is to fine ? Any leftovers after i feed is quickly vacuumed up by a pack of corys .
  20. I am looking into building a ply/glass tank . Thinking big 1000+ l . Very much at the plaining stage will keep you posted .
  21. I add gelatin in my discus brew . Holds things together when feeding . I feed it 3 times a day with no problems with cloulding .
  22. What type of food did you feed to grow them to that size Bill ?
