  1. Carly, have a spare queen sized bed made up, you are more than welcome to stay. have access to some amazing marine tanks to look at also, just let me know the date and i will make sure i put on a roast and Trav has crayfish in the fridge
  2. my best guess would be the keyholes, the pair i have were mako keyholes, they are the only fish i have that wont take any crap from the spawning cons, everything i had in the tank with them at the time was at least 2 times their size and they bullied the lot, blame the keyholes i say
  3. i just received my jewels from Graeme, via wok on his way to wellington. the trip to matamata through the fog was well worth it, thank you graeme they are beautiful
  4. not cheap at all, $1000, was the first tank we got, saw the supplier and they didnt give a monkeys, so i guess were stuck with it. I think jo1 has had a similar problem
  5. 1280 aquerium tank, the cabnet has an aqua one sticker on it
  6. this is little oscar, he was the 2nd one i got, Travis brought him home when i was sick, little oscar was rather small and beaten up then This is big oscar, he was the first one i got, he isnt much bigger than little oscar, but i needed a name for him This ugly unwashed looking thing is casper, the only fish with a real name, he is travis's fish
  7. hey mark i have an aquaone tank its a bullet tank im not sure of the make number. i hate the thing, the lid leaks all over the floor, ive been told that many others of this design also do it, other than stained carpet, its not too drastic, the place that stocks them really couldnt care less, so i guess im stuck with the problem. It is a shame as it is an eye catching tank
  8. our 6ft-3ft-3ft has an internal canister filter, and 2 aquaone cf1200, an well as a couple of air stones, hidden under drift wood, they are just keeping up with the cichlids, but i am concidering other options
  9. This is one of the escapees, dwelling in a con community at the far reaches of the cichlid community tank, they dont fear the oscars, the clown knife, the jewel, nothing. It looks like some kind of con commune down there
  10. I really dont know how you guys get such amazing photos of these quick little fish, this is the guppy only enclosure, and a nasty photo of one of the boys
  11. when you get your 6ft tank, get it 2ft deep not 3 ft so you can reach the bottom
  12. Im looking for more guppies to add to the self stocking guppy only tank
  13. as i am coming to wellington for the 14th, i thought i would bring some fishies down to swap. These two are beautiful, fertile( 6 batches since xmas) and amazing parents. lovely little fishies, want to keep them together as they are a dedicated couple, please let me know if you want them
  14. our community cichlid tank is 6ft long by 3ft deep by 3ft wide, we have 1 b/n and 2 large plecs in it as well as 2 small catfish, they are not quite keeping up with the cleen up job, dont seem to be having any problems with them both plecs are about 20cm, the cat fish get chased a bit by the larger oscar, i think he is too well fed to try very hard though
  15. i feed earthworms ( and any other bugs i can catch) to my community cichlid tank all the time, the other community tank occasionally gets a few left over worms and they love them, the neons scrap over the worms, can be rather entertaining to watch
  16. looks like my jack dempsy when he is upset.. but i really dont know
  17. the problem is the little darlings are real convicts and escape to the far reaches of the tank and suvive
  18. You really want cons, this is batch 6 since xmas.
  19. White Island is an amazing dive spot, anywhere round great barrier island or the mercury islands, the poor knights, slipper island, and mayor island Living in Tauranga means diving is close and of a high quallity

  24. Well, i moved the guppys to the 1200-450-450 tank, they are making quite a job of stocking that one, have 1 baby con that i just cant catch in there, looking rather well fed on guppy fry, but the guppys are winning, will post a pic once the tank looks respectable
