    Sick Mollies?

A small dose of salt won't harm them, if the tank is newly setup and not cycled (beneficial bacteria established) it may be a build up of Ammonia or Nitrite, a test kit is needed to check these. If the tank has been setup for less than a week or two this may be the prob, their tank mates wont be a problem but water quality may be, do you know someone who has test kits? You could try doing 10ltr (2.5gal) water changes twice weekly which will dilute the Ammonia till cycled (2-3 weeks) won't hurt the fish at all and quite possibly will help. How long have you had the tank setup for? Did you set the tank up and add fish the same day? Hope this helps : -)> Shane

    Ghost Shrimp

It's a question of value, i think most people would say a crayfish is worth a lot more than a common shrimp, same as common fish are generally cheap and rare fish are expensive. His age doesn't bother me but it shows the sort of person he is if he has lied to Trade Me (their terms and conditions say he must be 18 or over not me). IMO $15 is way over priced. But then Trade Me is full of overpriced goods.

    Sick Mollies?

What size tank is it in? Any other tank mates? What are the water conditions like e.g Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate? How old is the tank? When was your last water change? Enough questions for you LOL Could be several things so trying to get a better picture.

    Ghost Shrimp

Age shouldn't have anything to do with price. If he's under 18 he shouldn't have a Trade Me account. If he's that young a, he wouldnt have a car b, therefore no gas c, time doesn't have a lot of value Hence basically no costs. How much has he outlayed ? How much does it cost him monthly? Probably nothing as his parents would pay power etc Would you happily pay $15 for one of these? I definetly wouldn't and don't know anyone that would. Not when you could have one of my GBA for the same price

    Ghost Shrimp

Personally i don't like seeing people get ripped off, which is what i consider this person to be doing to unsuspecting niave people who have no idea of what they are worth. I sell my GBA for the same price ($15) and i guarantee it's cost me more to breed them than what it costs him to fish a few out of a rockpool.

  9. I wouldn't believe someones blurb when they are trying to sell their product unless they can provide proof, i've seen these on Trade Me before and at most got a laugh, although i sometimes wonder if my fishies would like a tea or coffee??? LMAO

    Desperate Dory

The main reason we seem to know what we are doing is because we found this site, before that it was a case of i thought i knew what i was doing (turned out i didn't) . [edit=cees]snip[/edit]definetly recommend having a spare tank for hospital/quarantine, only prob with that in my case is missus brings home some platties and no where for them to go so now i don't have a hospital tank anymore LOL. Perservere with it and any advice you get from LFS double check with people on here (they are an awesome and knowledgable bunch in here) until you are more confident. Good to hear they are going to replace the fish. Be prepared to make room for more tanks as this hobby is rather addictive LOL
  14. I have 6, xtra, 2xhotmail, 2xlycos and hotmail, just wondered if it was the same addy. Different addy for different purposes. LOL
  15. Ok thats the e-mail addy used by slapmemonkey.
  16. Pomereef was the e-mail address for [edit=cees]no publishing of someones email address without owners approval, read the guidelines[/edit] by any chance?
  17. My pick would be the red tailed shark, i got rid of mine as it chased all the other fish, its possibly the gourami but i dont have any of them so see what others think. I wouldnt have another red tailed shark unless it was in with aggressive chiclids.
  18. Funnily enough paul397 on trade me has the name slapper attached to his account so i assume he is slapmemonkey trying to defend himself... Would love to meet traders like him face to face...
  19. If he's something to do with an internet cafe in Napier why does he list his location as Waiheke Island???? Seems to be a compulsive liar as well as a rogue. There are a few on trade me that think they are cool mucking people around but IMO they are mistaking cool for fool.
  20. Cool, looking forward to some monster guppies, got about 100-150 in with about 50 swordtails but my biggest guppies are about 60mm long. Let me know when you are ready to sell some, could do you a swap for GBA...
  21. $70-$80 is a second hand price through the likes of trade me, new Hollywood has them for $170 and that is the cheapest i have found in Auckland. The bit i like with the classic is spend $20odd dollars on an impellor and shaft and its like new again, the clips to hold the lid on are metal so they don't break.
  22. I have 3 Eheims and can recommend them, bit dearer than Jebo or Fluval but they have proven themselves to be reliable and do an awesome job, guppy fry even live in the bottom of my 2213's for a month or so till cleaning time. Lighting wise, a 3ft single tube would do the trick but as i found, if you want more plants it means another light, so if you buy a 3ft twin tube and only turn on one tube when/if you plant more you will have the lighting capacity to suit.
  23. I've got over 100 guppies and never salted the tank and they breed fine. Are these in your 70 ltr tank?
  24. Chim Chim, you have 10+cm female guppies? I'd be keen on some of them
  25. GBA= Golden Blackeyed Ancistrus, much cheaper in Auckland Is $145 at Animates an adult?
