Couple of problems with doing it this way. 1) I go through over 60 liters a week, don't really want to figure out how to suspend that above my sump or display. 2) As the water level lowers in the holding drum the drip rate will change 3) if anything goes wrong, and all the water dumps, you wont know unless you notice the drip has stopped or your inverts are turning up their toe's because of the salinity drop

I used to breed them when I was a kid, There are a few reasons they do this. If it's a strong movement it sounds like defence/warning behaviour, usually the head comes up with beak open, some times they hiss as well. If it's just sitting there rocking and not taking much interest it is sick or very stressed, you could try putting in a warm dark place. Some times it is a submission thing for mating, usually the tail will go up (or to the side) at the same time. Or if it looks commical it might just be a trick it's been taught As living art says older birds from aviary are no good, it will be difficult getting them to adjust to cage life and being handled. Males are nosier but better for training to talk and do tricks. I'm surprised how much I can remember it's been 20 odd years, so forgive me if I'm not 100% correct.

I run a 3kva UPS keeps my return and temp controller running for a few hours. But don't be confused by the VA rating, it tells you how much power the unit can deliver, not how long it can deliver that power for. So on mine I can have 3000va of devices attached (or about 2700w), 10 x 270w heaters. How long it would keep them running for would depend on how many batteries were in the unit. Of course the higher rated (VA) UPS's tend to have bigger battery packs, but I can see on the APC web site you can buy my UPS with no batteries if you want.

The service I had at wonderworlds was outstanding. I asked the young lady a couple of questions and as soon as she didn't know the answer she went a got the expert. I asked him if they sold bulk calcium and rather than try and sell me little containers he told me about a chemist in the area that sold it in bulk.

You might be confusing your MCB's (mini circuit breaker) with RCD's, they are completely different beast's. I would pay to check and not just assume you have RCD's because as Ira and I said they do different jobs. An RCD will have test and reset buttons and usually a power light. A MCB will have a single switch or on some a big round push in button and a very small round push in button. A MCB will also have an amp rating on it 10,15,20 etc

I'm wondering how putting the shrimp in first is going to stop the Trigger eating it?

Jasmines problem was with a surge board not an RCD

Isn't it a regulation now that all (new) circuits have an RCD on them. I know your not putting in new circiuts but this give you an idea of how important they are. Not putting them in because of nuisance tripping is a bit like not putting fuses or circuit breaker in in-case they blow while you are being electrocuted. If they trip it is for a reason. Cheap plug in type ones can be touchy, but proper hard wired RCD's aren't, they will also come back on after power cuts. BTW if you wire an RCD on the first power point of a run it protects all the rest as well, so you only need one per circuit. Are you replacing the circuit breakers at your board?? If so why not put proper RCD's there instead.

Anyone noticed the per barrel price has dropped by almost $10. I'm wondering how come the petrol companies aren't rushing to put the price down like they did last week when the per barrel price went up??

Are you sure the 8 is correct then? My kit has both scales, but the max it goes to in meq/l is 5.7 maybe you looked at the wrong scale?
-
Since you don't know what you are doing you should get this done by a qualified person. Dodgy wiring and living people don't mix well. A lot of overseas forums now lock and remove threads like this so they can't be held liable by people injuring themselves after following advise.
-
What units are you using?? either of those numbers is normal depending on if you using dKH or meq/L. Or 3.5 could be very low and 8 very high.

I use a peri pump and a timer. Never failed in all the years I've used it.

Replacing the open fire with a fire box completely changed my place, the down side was all the woodwork that opened up as the moisture was drawn out.

The people I know (and myself) have had far better luck with back yard mutt's, pretty much every pure breed owner I know has problems. Sister has had 3 dachshunds (different breeders), all have had spinal problems, neighbour had 2 German shepherds, one was a fantastic dog the other put down after 2 years because it had bad hips. Two friends (mother and daughter) with boxers, physically okay, but both untrustworthy, cat killers, and the dumbest dog's I've ever meet. I know very little about pure breed dogs, but the impression I get is New Zealand is just too small, and they are just too inbreed. I know you get some very good pure breeds from very good breeders but you also get a lot of very bad pure breeds. JMO

The impression I've always had was that shops didn't stock live stock to sell, they are only there to draw customers in. The money is in the dry stock. Just have a look at animates stores, every new one has less and less tank space. I sold some bristle nose plec's to an LFS once and they gave me $1 each, they said they were doing me a favour, and they got them cheaper from the supplier, I haven't brought any in a few years but I seem to remember they were round $10 retail at the time. I was in an LFS a few months ago and the supplier must have put the fish into the display tanks himself then stuck the invoice on the tank, so I had a wee look  , (hay it was open for all to see!) just the usual types you would expect at mall pet shop, all of them were under $2, most under $1.

My diesel Ute gets 900k from a tank of gas, I get about the same mileage as my mate in his Swift, it is the 1.6 sport version and he does have a heavy foot but still, Ute is double cab, aerodynamics of a brick

300 watts is very little power to draw, if it is working correctly there is no way it will trip out your power. Most fan heaters are 2000 watts. Why did you take the 200w one out?? I always run two heaters just in case one fails plus if the 200w was having problems keeping up the 300w isn't going to be much better.

Since it is getting worse my guess would be a bacterial bloom. But what ever it is, it will be because it's a new tank, just sit back and give it some time, you can't add fish or anything for a while yet so just relax and enjoy planning what fish you are going to add.

The first Pic would work but has a lot of un-nessary bits, the second wont work. All you need is the tube and the sponge, if you put holes in the side of the tube where it is in the sponge it will suck water more evenly through the sponge. The longer you make the tube the better it will draw (suck) the water. Pic two would work if you didn't have the holes in the bottom. The air stone doesn't need to be a tight fit in the tube as shown

The only problem for the tank will be rotting bits of anemone, just keep an eye on the water for the next couple of days. The anemone itself should be okay but keep an eye on it too, if it dies (which well depend on how damaged it is) it will pollute the tank if you don't remove it fast enough. Now the big question is why it ended up in the pump, anemones usually only start floating round (or even moving a lot) when they are unhappy, or have just been put into a tank and are finding their 'spot'. How long have you had the anemone? what type is it, what sort of flow, water parameters, lights etc?
