Napier Aquarium Terapin mix 1/2 teaspoon absorbic acid 1 teaspoon vy daylin 2 teaspoons granulated yeast 2 teaspoons lactating calcium 2 teaspoons cod liver oil 2 teaspoons olive oil 500 grams ox heart with fat removed 500 grams fish 1/2 cup rabbit pellets one cup greens(water cress,outer leaves of lettuce etc,NOT cabbage) method cut fish and meat into chunks and partially freeze,soften rabbit pellets in water.now take a small portion of everything and pulse in a kitchen whizz untill the consistenty of coarse sawdust.press out like a biscuit mix and freeze.I used to sandwich betweeen 2 baking trays and press out to the desired thickness,you can get it off the trays easily when frozen and cut into bite sized pieces and freeze free flowed in plastic bags.You can use any fish you like from Wharf caught herrings to just fish scraps such as wings etc with the bones and everything in the mix. Feed frozen and just enough that they eat the lot and not have alot of uneaten scraps floating around. the vy daylin is a supplment from the chemist and the absorbic acid is vitamin c,these may cost a bit at the start but will last for ages as will a few kg`s rabbit pellets and the calcium.

i can give you thr recipe from Napier Aquarium which is tried and true and has everything necessary in it,just too busy to type it out at the moment.it will cost a little to get some of the ingredients as you will have to buy a bottle etc but these will last for ages once you have them.Will hunt it out and post later.

might as well turn the heat off?As for restarting them up to you,they should be ok under lights but seem to be in tune with natural day length even though they don`t see it?

I put mine in a shallow box with some hay and just leave them to it basically.Check them once a week or so and give them drink if they look sunken eyed at all.They have no heating at all and don`t seem to mind being warmed up and the cooled off again,just don`t feed them as it will rot inside them.I had them out in the garage but it was too cold so brought them inside in a spare bedroom that is unheated and at the cold end of the house.They are still outside and we have had some cool nights just lately,must get them in soon.

was reading an old alison holst cookbook the other day and she recommended slicing oxheart diagonally to give the appearence of steaks,bang it with a meat hammer to modify the texture to make it more like steak note,don`t tell your geusts what cut of steak they are eating!

not in my or my breeder friends experience.The cooling down of brumation/hibernation has major influence on fertility in alot of reptiles.Even when heated and lit ,as in indoor setups they still try to have a dormant time of some sort.

RN is right,for once.You can`t get much easier to feed than BT`s,they even provide their own first meal??

look at one with healthy frilly gills and consider that is what they use for oxegen exchange.you should be able to answer your question yourself from there?
