I only have small dreams - I want a big wide staircase that has 3 steps followed by a landing all the way up. Each landing would have a fish tank in the wall and the water would cascade from one to the other. It would then leave the house, enter a small creek, wander around my spectacular garden to a fountain, back to the creek, down a waterfall, then into the house to be pumped back up to the top tank. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Dark and I planned it all out recently Cheers Jude

I dont think they try to escape, they just jump and if they happen to be below a hole they go through it. If you only have one or two holes for tubing I don't think its all that likely. My gouramis keep hitting their heads on the glass lid ............ LOL Jude

Hi Todd Some fish shops give really good advice while others don't seem very knowledgeable. I've started checking fish out here and on the web before I buy - but I have to admit I didn't do that when I first started :lol: Sorry you got off to a sad start but I am sure with all the help available here things will keep getting better. I am planning a cold water tank for my desk at work and will be putting wcmm's in it. I think if I add any others I will put in a small heater because our office gets icey cold overnight. Yep Hummingbird, you got it. I wouldn't feed live camels to my vulture just like I wouldnt feed baby birds to my cat, or kittens to my dog. I would love another trip but I think its a few years away yet. It would be interesting to see if I could find the street where we used to live. There were two of them and the way S'pore has grown its possible they don't exist any more. Its a pity that my interest in fish didnt arrive until later. I am sure I would have enjoyed the fish shops there Cheers Jude

I agree with the 'one bite' theory so would be disturbed by goldfish being fed to other fish as well. That remark made me laugh. 'Deserve' better food?. Its like saying the rich deserve better food. They might be able to afford better but I would argue that others are equally deserving. In my opinion there is no excuse for cruelty. The malawis are already in comparatively safe conditions compared to their natural habitat - at least I assume they are in danger from bigger fish at home. They are not in natural conditions and while we should try to reproduce an environment they are comfortable in we don't have to reproduce the cruelty of nature. Cheers Jude

Hi Tony and welcome If you want something nice to look at then live plants and fish that like heaviy planted tanks are the way to go - in my opinion anyway. Although a well arranged cichlid tank with rocks and no plants also looks cool. Cheers Jude
