What exactly is Metro? Metronidazole? Where do you source it from. Had huge problem last year with what I believ was bloak with my Tangs and lost a few so be keen to know. Regards Andrew

Yes, the basic principal is 2 water supplies, one with it water level higher than the other. The water supply with the lower water level (read sump) has its water pumped up to the higher water level supply (read aquarium). The upper supply has a weir set at the water level, as water is pumped into the aquarium, water simply spills over the weir which is then piped back down to the sump, and around it goes. In your case, you have the Tunze overflow acting as a weir. Hope that makes sense.

The sump is set up as a Marine Refuge. As the main photo show, water will ne br dumped into the left chamber, possible with a prefilter. THe mid section would be set up with a sand base and used to culture Macro algae ( the gut would have run a light over it) the right side the first glass panel set the height of water in the refuge. The last chamber on the right would be where the return pump sat. The water level will only change in this chamber as water evaporates for the system, being a small chamber and the amont of evaporation you get from a reef tank, henced the need for the top up float in the chamber to maintain water level for the pump and maintain a constant salinity. Oh, and if nobody has told you, sump type systms make noise 8) Making them quite is another whole dicussion

Power head on the right is a Maxi Jet by Aquarium systems. Actually quite a good power head. Also looks like an Eden power head in the middle with moving nozel for wave making, not so crash hot as the mechanism clogs up (well dod for me) Pump in the left looks like a Rio, has a reputation for blowing up. Actually, looking at the pipe work the original owner may had both the RIO and Maxi-Jet as return pumps. Hard to know without knowing the flows rates and head pressure. Personally I like the Eheim 1060 (think their now called 1260) pump for return, super reliable and easy to get a 2nd hand one off a marine guy. If your wanting to clean the gear off, soak it in a solution of water and white vinegar over night. Will clean it off like new. The plumbing Fittings (black ones) are Hassens and widely used for plumbing on fish tanks here http://www.hansenproducts.co.nz/ Hard to comment on the sump with put seeing the whole item and how itsd baffled. Marine sumps do tend to be a bit more customised the a freshwater sump. There's a sump set up on TradeMe at the moment that maybe more suitable (No, it's not me but worth a look at) Oh yeah, I'm on holday with a ton of time to kill :bounce:

Could be... The guy I sold them also was keeping a pair of red tail cats in a spa pool that was cut in half with a glass panel stuck on in his fish room Don't think he was that succesful in breeding them though.

I'm old, we're talking probable 10 years + ago when I kept them. Bought them off aquazoo in Elerslie.

Good call, just had a quick look through "Jurrasic Fishes" which I bought when I got the fish and they were lapradei, although I could be wrong again :roll: it was a few years ago.....

Use to keep a couple of those several years ago! Seeing as they're pretty hardy and live a long time, you may ned up owing one Sold my 2 off, so don't know what happen to them.

My Fronts were shy, barely wanted to come out of the cave for food, but now they attcaking the food at the surface. My biggest Front pretty much went staight to the surface the same time I dropped the food in to grab as much as he could.

A bit of research going on

Redwood have some Syno Multis due for release soon (from Quarantine) and I'm planning to get some. I'm getting them to email me some pics to confirm. They're going for $85. Fairly common overseas for keeping Clown loaches with Africans. Good for cleaning up Do well in the higher Ph range Can hold their own. Am also thinking of adding Clown loaches to my African tank. Only thing stopping me I like keeping the same Bio-type (is that the right word?) thing happening. Regards Andrew
