  1. Oh dear. It seems that a few people are going to get into 'eely' deep trouble... http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/7767409 ... ottom-leak (BTW - you think the probe pun was intentional??)
  2. She's selling locally, and I can stop her from selling on my page, but if there was some 'official' recommendation about selling size or age that I could use to back me up it would've been easier...
  3. But it's not for me... she's selling to people that are having to ask what they will need to have one... But ok, if they can be sold that young, then so be it... I pity the poor things going to homes where they have no idea though
  4. But a few weeks after being hatched? Isn't that a bit young? Like the poor thing has only laid them today, and the woman reckons that they'll be able to be picked up in a months time?
  5. I've seen some for sale, but from memory, they need to be a certain age or length first? Can someone please enlighten me? I don't like the idea of someone selling 'babies' when they shouldn't be...
  6. Hmmm. I think you probably mean 'preventative'... You might want to google prophylactic... :rotf:
  7. Well, tested this morning, and we're back to 0 Ammonia and 0 NitrItes... Still have no idea what caused it though!!
  8. Forums need a 'LIKE' option for posts... :slfg:
  9. Gah.... Might not be this week Stupid bills...
  10. LOL... as I said, you didn't see them in full force... I'll bring to a meeting one week, and let them loose LOL
  11. Why not do it now? You ever tried to do a water change with an almost 4 year old and a 19 month old wide awake? And you're the only person home apart from them? And they are both satanic spawn? If not, I'm more than happy to send you my two... Sheepsnana - you've seen them, and that wasn't full force either!! And its not likely, I ALWAYS use dechlorinator. Water added is always as close to the temp in the tank as I can get it too.
  12. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/artic ... d=10835890 Better photo for all you pedantic people?? LOL
  13. I was born here, one relative moved from Co Kerry to NZ in about 1840-0something. Another branch I haven't been able to trace back completely yet. Another branch arrived from Fife, Scotland (via London where the ship left port) on Jan 29 1913, and arrived in Wellington March 17th 1913. He lived a good portion of his life in Mangaweka. And I come from the family line of MacDonald (maiden name)... from the Massacre of Glencoe fame too.. My husband is related to Mary, Queen of Scots. (This explains his psychotic nature... damned Tudors LOL)
  14. Test kit was purchased in April this year. Lot nuber indicates it was made July 2011, and they are good for 3 years, so the kit is fine... Hoover seemed fine, although he was a little less active than usual, and maybe not eating as much as he normally did. I tested the tap water, 0ppm. I did a large waterchange last night... brb... *5 minutes later* Its between 0.5ppm and 1ppm now... I'm leaning more towards the 1ppm... Another water change later this afternoon me thinks...
  15. I miss WoW sometimes... but I like my fishies more...
  16. I *MAY* come and see you on Wednesday... just been talking to the hubby LOL... Wait, you work Wednesday??
  17. Ok, from the top: Sophia - yip, 2ppm. I even got hubby to double check the colour... Graham - if you look in my sig, he has a tank all to himself now. James - yip, I rinse my test tubes out well with hot water and let them air dry after each use. sup - I used the spiking tank to help seed my other one a few weeks back, so I'm a little confused as to how that would help...? This tank has been cycled since April... Adrienne - yes, my filter is working, no I don't rinse it under tap water, and I never rinse it all at the same time.
  18. Hey all, While not quite sick fish, they will be soon if I can't figure this out. Just did a water test, cause I do one randomly every week to 10 days. I'm a worry wort ok?? Ammonia is almost 2ppm, API liquid test kit, gently agitated before anyone asks. NitrItes 0 I don't have any other test kits on me, I take it to the LFS if I suspect anything normally... This is in my 50L - one plant - cabomba, my hoplo and my snail, so its not overstocked by any stretch of the imagination. I haven't changed anything, I haven't done anything, my other tank is fine, I do my regular 25% once a week water changes, and this is the first problem since I got it cycled in April. I don't over feed, and I don't play with the filter either... Now to fix this I need to do a few LARGE water changes over a few days correct? Until my Ammonia reads 0ppm again? But, any ideas as to why?!?!
  19. http://news.msn.co.nz/nationalnews/8537 ... -in-bottom WTF?!?
  20. :smot: I played the D3 beta weekend... LOVED IT... just can't afford to purchase two copies of it, as the other half loved it too...
  21. LOL, I played D2 online a lot, and was into UT2K4. Also the entire Warcraft series (including WoW), and Starcraft as well... Richard played the original Quake... (but then, he's 12 years older than me LOL)
  22. I love how in 6 posts you guys can go from talking about how silly the English language is to food...
  23. I currently have: Freddy the purple betta - no, not 'Freddy Fish', he's named Freddy because he's bright, flamboyant, and should have been a Queen... (geddit?) Hoover the Hoplo Catfish - cause thats what he looks like when food is around Gary the Golden Apple Snail - I have two toddlers, need I say more?
  24. Mine came about when I joined an online gaming forum after my husband (then boyfriend). His gamer tag was 'Satanx' (Satan X, not satanix as most people think), which came about from people calling him satan (or similiar) and he's from generation X. I wanted something that linked us, but was still uniquely me. So, purplex. Purple X. Not a mispelled 'perplex'. I kept the x, even though I'm generation Y. I think. I use this for nearly EVERYTHING. Occaisionally I have to make it 'purplexnz' or 'oldrpurplex' (Clan name) but 99% of the time I'm purplex. My number plate is also 'PRPLE'
