  1. try adding more hiding spots, might make them more secure. is the tank in a high traffic area do you have any kids??? (the worst culprits)
  2. don't forget to re install it correctly, most cracked bottoms are due to incorrect installation. the rest are due to moving the tank and dropping things
  3. those should be FOTM photo's Awesome
  4. yep Archer fish, psychotic clown loaches and a flag tail, and a Surinamensis type geophagus thats being beaten on by the flagtail
  5. I use TLC products cuz its free for me mainly use the one for problem ponds (100 times as strong) when restocking shop tanks, not had any ammonia spikes yet
  6. Anubias nana and barteri are good, prefer lower lighting too, if its for an african tank it does well stuck in the holes in the rockwork
  7. its a li9ve bacteria solution that targets sludgy deposits, not worth it unless in extreme cases imo
  8. depends on the fish in the tank, I have a planted discus tank that get cleaned out once every 3 months or so and it is normally rather clean inside (Don't touch the noodles, only clean out sponges) but I also have a Tank with 3 large Salvin's Cichlids that needs the sponges rinsed every 3 weeks even if I use sludge destroyer.
  9. wow, watch your toes when wading in that creek
  10. definately recommended, I keep the temp up for 2 weeks after last spot is gone too, have not had a white spot since. I also try to dose the tank with live bacteria as the white spot treatment can kill off beneficial bacteria too
  11. the intial cost of LED is more than saved on power alone, but you also save on never having to change the bulbs. don't know if anything decent is being imported yet (easy to get chinese made ones but do you trust it???) so have a look at the American or German websites
  12. Aqua one Pond Moray 4900 would be a good choice puts out 5000lph (4000lph at 2m) with a 3.4m head. Wattage rating of 81W (these are or if the sump has the room (and you have the money) the Stingray 6000 pond pump is only 70W (just remove the dirty water housing
  13. what about on humans???, I work with birds, bunnies and fish so I need to dose myself on a monthly basis. would save a few bucks
  14. I have heaps of bird wormer that contains Praziquantel (2mg/L) and Levamisol (8.48mg/L) can this be used?, and also in what dosages?
  15. my only recommendation with apisto's is that the less effort you put in the more you get out the main thing to remember is that they don't like strong current
  16. keep a close eye out for black spots on the substrate as ity could be a sign of anaerobic bacteria blooms which give off nasty smells
  17. check the impeller, check the seals. ensure the guard over the impeller is fitted (so its not sucking in filter wool) check for soft hoses and pinched hoses, listen to it running to check for air locks, check to see if plug is loose, damaged wires are pulled out or corroded. as far as I know they are identical to an aqua one aquis 500, the parts even come from the same wholesaler.
  18. oh well off to sharpen those pitch forks again .... why dont we have a smiling devil smiley???
  19. nah, you dont need a photo, we will believe you now let me tell you about the 60 kg Kingfish I caught last week..........
  20. crossing fingers for you, always fun the first fill on a big one (remembering 2200L x 300W x 1200H office divider, scary filling that one)
  21. i'd test again, preferably with a different kit just to make sure the kit is not faulty
  22. could consider a live bacteria solution such as TLC should boost the bacteria to eat up your nitrites. any nitrate reading yet???
