i really like this tank. the rock work is really cool. :thup: are those really emerald eye tetras because they come up quite differently on google?

i am considering doing a similar thing and i was told it would not be a good idea because its forcing the filter pump to good faster than it is meant to (my pump still works i just want more flow). he said than the filter pump would not last this way. can anyone confirm this?

i am running a 2215 eheim filter with 640l/h, the helia filter has 200l/h and the eheim pump has 300l/h. i have another 700l/h pump available but when that was in, the fish were struggling. is there a place to get suitable and cheap wave makers from? cheers superico thanks

sorry for not updating this. :facepalm: :nilly: i have been very lazy and something has has always gotten in the way. well many things have happened and i will soon be moving house and taking this tank with me. i will use this opportunity to change things around and get some more fish and add some plants and tidy the stand and gear up a bit. my fish :f77: will be going to Jennifer who has offered to take them(thanks heaps). during the time i didn't update i had an algae outbreak and had to pull out most of my chainsword. now i will use the time the fish are away to get powder ferts and add some g24 60 5050 leds to my tank and get the balance right to hopefully banish algae for ever. i will add some form of low carpeting plant. i have been thinking about glosso but will glosso carpet properly with my lighting setup or will it just grow upwards? and can we get Eleocharis parvula in nz or is the type we get in nz, Eleocharis parvula? because if it is, that's to tall for me. and i also thought about lilaeopsis. does it carpet fast and well? pics: excuse the bad quality :-? :roll: algae on everything (it got worse on the chain sword) much less chain sword and state as of today damn algae :an!gry co2 diffuser extra flow any advice much appreciated cheers superico

i really like this tank. :thup: i have been very interested in it since i saw the thread !drool: but in my opinion it lacks consistency and structure. maybe if you merge the wood and the rocks, you could make it look more natural? (this is just a suggestion) cheers superico

hey guys, im wanting to use one of these: for CO2 diffusion http://www.aquariumline.com/catalog/ehe ... anguage=en and power it with a pump and use a spray bar so like this: Co2 hose ] pump > diffuser > spray bar but the diffuser > spray bar is not exactly a perfect fit( there is like 5mm missing) and the only method i see is using superglue or silicone and i don't have any aquarium silicone so my question is, is it OK to connect plastic in a high flow area using superglue? cheers superico

i have a pressurized co2 setup, which before this has been running via inline diffusion but that caused some problem so im going to order some gear from green leaf aquariums and i have grandparents in Germany which will be sending me some extra light soon. So i definitely want to go high tech. i will order potassium phosphate, aquatic trace mix and some epsom salts but i can't find any monopotassium nitrate. Where would i get this?

hi all, i have decided to start fertilizing my tank properly and would like to know what to order from http://www.hydroponics.co.nz/bulk-nutrients.html and how to dose it. tank specs: Dimensions & volume of tank:106cmx60cm highx56cm deep with two dividers in the back and a water line of 30cm which works out to hold about 120 liters Lighting: life glo fixture with an arcadia plant pro buld and an life glo bulb on for 10 hours(10am-8pm) Substrate:30kgs of fine red gravel on top of 15kgs of jbl aqua basis plus Plants:various crypts, half a carpet of echinodorus quadricostatus, 1 large echinodorus argentinensis, 2 amazon swords, three small anubias and lots of stargrass which is going to be replaced be these:alternanthera reineckii 'red', hygrophila corymbosa, hygrophila difformis, ludwigia glandulosa, rotala rotundifolia. Fish stocking:1 pair of apistogramma agassizi, 2 laetacara curviceps,19 cardinals, 8 panda corys, 2 red long fin jewel Ancistrus, 2 rocket pencil fish(unluckily i purchased 1 female and 3 males so there is only one male left now :an!gry ) Goals - i want a tank that is entertaining and a good home for both fish and plants and i would like fast plant growth( and very little algae). any advice would be much appreciated cheers

hi all, there will be some big changes happening. i will be getting rid of all of my heteranthera zosterifolia/stargrass(which i thought was hygrophila corymbosa 'aroma' or hygrophila guinensis until a while back :oops: :oops: :roll: :roll: ) because there is just to much of it now and i cant maintain it properly and i will be replacing it with: alternanthera reineckii 'red' hygrophila corymbosa hygrophila difformis ludwigia glandulosa rotala rotundifolia what one of these do you think will be likely to break the surface and keep growing from there? plus the echinodorus(still unsure what it is :dunno: ) has started flowering!!! It's funny that you posted this just before i do a big change in plants. What you say is very true but in my opinion fish are the main attraction of a fish tank while plants are the thing that that the owner of the tank can manipulate and shape to their liking, with no limit, whereas there is a limit to what fish and how many fish you can keep, and once you have reach that limit the fish aspect of the tank, the tank gets a bit boring so people start changing the plants in search of the perfect plant set and placement. the chain sword has recovered and sent out runners now and has gone from this: to this: and finally as requested a full tank shot( in which you can see why i'm getting rid of the stargrass)
