  1. Damn mine is doing it last night. So I mixed a bucket of water this morning and will do water change when I get home. He keep darting at random objects.
  2. It could be a small bite but infected.
  3. Not sure, for now there is no double tails that I can spot in my tank lol. They are all single tail. I saw one but that was before fin rot start. It was a good two tails also. But now may be in betta heaven. Sorry fishy
  4. I love the green plakat and the cambodian one beautiful. I got one double tails in my spawn but I think he/she is not dead dued to fin rot a few days ago.
  5. lol I have taken the plant out now. It was too hard to clean the tank with obstacles. Now just floating plant in the tank. All floaty lost there root somehow
  6. Nice colour but I still hate the tail It would be nicer with Yellow fin with black trim fin edge blue or turtoise blakats Love it when they swim around and when flaring. Mine is a male betta SpadTail I guess, I don't know, I bought it as a crowntail + plakat cross but his tail was never gone crown. His top fin and bottom showing some crown trait. Oh well I breed him with the same colour female crowntail and I hope to get some good nice colour and tails from the fry. I got so many fry but no space for them all.
  7. What about adding heaters into your pond lol. I assumed it won't be too big lol. May be 5 to 10 heaters might keep them warm hahah Just kidding
  8. Here they are now. Happy little pigs. only one dead today But my trumpet snails are not happy. They have stopped socialising after a few grain of tonic salt went in the water. I have taken them out and put them into new water for rehab and they are once again moving. :sml1: That is my home made biological filter lol. Best of all is I can see their crowntails casualty to date: 50
  9. They arw doing much better now. Today Much less death than the day before. The early infected fry are healing but the one that is already too late to save are dying. I can see they are now happy and swmming a lot. The snails on the other hand are less active. Must be the tonic salt made them sleeping or not moving much. I only add like 5 tonic cubes per litre of water change. going to cit down on salt after the next water change. They are 3 weeks old now
  10. Well this is why I'm breeding mine back to crowntail and keeping the fry the same colour. Also I love short tail fighters because they. are more active and more better immune system. I had a blue plaket and a combtail multi colour male (black red green) and the same colour female. Also I got a copper female as well. I hate those veil tail long fins. They are so ugly and prone to fin diseases. My combtail tail isn't very lobg like those veil tail bit long enough and still keep him moving fast. Not as fast as the plaket of cause. I also got a pure cambodian female or male I'm not sure. It Juat won't spawn but it will bite anything in its path.
  11. Update: fin rot seems to be undercontrol now. Though the one that got the worst fin rot and body rot are dead and still a few of the sick on left. The fry that only just started fin rot have been recovered and opening up their fins swimming now. I added tonic salt to my new water over night before changing or adding new water in. fingers cross.
  12. I will go for funan2 if things are getting worst. Funan2 found to cause cancer in mice. So I'm kind of sketical
  13. Thanks guy. I just bought a pack of Tonic salt from pet store. Did some water change with dried acorn leaves to tinning the water. Also added like half of tea spoon of Tonic salt to the tank. I added water supplement and conditioner left my new water aged overnight and before changing it, I heat the water up to about the same temperature as the tank. Then I made a DIY water filter using my brine shrimp airpump and some aquarium cotton. got back feom work today, found about 25 dead fry in total. I am expecting at least 20 more death tomorrow. Some fry are already at a stage of too late to be saved. The fin rot had already migrated to their body and eventually death is unescapable. But good news, some are now more active than the other night after the water change and the filter inside the tank. It is now not at the top of the tank or at the corner. They are now swimming up and down and play with the bubbles and eating like crazy again. Most importantly they are now at the bottom of the tank like they used to be. I think I sti have about 100 left. for now. I hope I won't see more death after the Sunday. As Saturday it is expected to be some.
  14. So far it grew out of the water I have cut them short and let them grow more. But my fry is now running into problem with fin rot. Going to try add some aquarium salt to try stop the spread.
  15. Does anyone have some aquarium salt that living in Hamilton? I would love to get a few grains to cure my betta fry fin rot. I don't want to buy 500g of salt and only need to use just 2 to 3 grains. Where can I get Maracyn2 in New Zealand? Can't find it in the fish store. Please let me know asap via PM. Regards, Maxx
  16. Yes I think that is what it is you're good. Your plantfu is super strong. I bow before you. I couldn't find English name for it for a very long time. I wander if this plant can be used as an aquarium plant though? It survive in the water just fine.
  17. Here it is: It is edible to human. It can either live in soil or water. This is a herb though I used it all the time for my salad It taste spicy like mint. And smell very similar to mint as well. It will grow anywhere. I add it into my tank and it has not rot since a month ago. It end up growing roots and new branches. It is floating right now in my tank. I'm thinking of burying it in the sand It keeping my water clear and my fish loves it (not eating it) and my trumpet snails eating it's root. I know the name of the plant but is it not in English
  18. I got one but not knowing the name. Plant ID anyone This plant is very hardy. Live on land or water, submerged or whatever you like. Will live in frosty winter outside in the soil or in a hot tank up to 40 Celsius. Best of all, it is edible to human as well animal. Taste spicy like mint. Good to go with salad if you short in mint
  19. HolyCrap! this is weird. I think I saw that similar submerged plant like moss too at the farm in Hamilton but I didn't know what it was so I threw them away when it came with some daphnia. I'm going to take a trip there today to scoop a few out and see if this is Xmas moss free moss everyone.
  20. @Gaz Breeding Siamese is quite easy. First you'll need to introduce the female to the male. Put her in a jar or bottle inside the tank for 1 to two days. Look at her behaviours and his. If he stop attacking the jar then it is a sign that he will be making bubble nest already or soon. The female will now flaring up when the male comes close to her. She then will flare head down and tail up. Once you see this then you can release the female. Make sure you feed them live foods for that duration. If the female is getting bitten by the male really bad in the first 5 to 10minutes then put her back in the jar again for another day until she start flaring at him again and release her back in there. He will now start luring her into his bubble nest. After 3 hours or so, you'll get hundreds of eggs Female will help picking up the eggs and place it in the nest until the whole spawning is over. Once it is over, the male will not let the female goes near the eggs. Though she won't eat it, she wanted to look after it as well, but there is a chance she can't control her self. Male will flare at her and push her down, if she insist then he'll attack her. This is the time to take the female out, throw her some antibiotic water and life foods. She won't start eating right away. She'll swim toward the corner and being depressed for half of day before she starts eating once again. Good luck and god speed The hardest part of spawning is finding the right food for the fry once it is 3 days old. Take the male out (free swimming fry) and feed him. I find feeding microworm causing the water to go bad and brought in disease like valvet or ich on the fry. Which will kill it eventually. I feed them Brine Shrimp. They are now 2 weeks and 4 days now (2 weeks 1 day since free swimming). They are starting to showing colour already fat healthy fry.
  21. Lol I still have them in my tank I knew a couple of breeders in Hamilton and Auckland. My fry are now 7 days old but ran out of live foods this morning. Kind of on the hungry day for them until tonight. Worry not, those fighters won't be dying out from NZ that fast Mine is emerald male + steel female crown = not sure what the fry will come out in 1 month from now. An another batch is 8 days old. It is a cross of blue plaket with bronze dragon female halfmoon female.
  22. Hello there, I heard that you want some plants for your fish tank right? Well I'm not really using any plant from the petstore. I use my own garden plant. It is sub tropical plant that can grow and live on both soil dry land or water. Also edible as well for human Actually, it a herb. And it has been growing just fine in my low light warm water. It will do well in all kind of water condition Cold or hot. The plants I bought from Animates seem to died off really quickly in my tank but this plant that I added into my tank survived for over 1 month now and growing roots everywhere. Keeping my water clean and crystal clear even without filter in the tank. Let me know if you want some. I'm from Hamilton. I'll give you some for free PM me. Regards, Maxx
