  1. Tell them I will buy the tank off them for bugger all once they have made you a tank as you ordered and paid for
  2. shouldnt you be careful about returning sea creatures to the wild? just in case you introduce something from your tank?
  3. has anyone ever had a brackish/salt tank prepared for either berrying mums or the berries themselves? seems like the logical step after everyone has been saying for ages how they need to migrate to sea as larvae. Excuse me if people have been through this procedure before.

  5. That looks like a very bodged up garage fishroom. I was expecting alot more polish after all this talk and advice, looks like you bought a bunch of random tanks off trademe and made a lil shelf for them. If you are wanting to import and quarantine selective and costly fish I think there is a lot of room for improvement. Gotta start somewhere though so good work and dont let the detractors put you off if you are really determined.
  6. Dont worry, petshops see everyone coming, thats what they are for. Petworld was it?
  7. if you like you can come and get a couple 20l buckets of water with some freshly squeezed filter juice in them and some filter splooge to seed your biomedia - im in woolston too.
  8. US5.29 each on liveaquaria fishkeeping is so so much cheaper in america!
  9. I wish I kept Big Guy the jag in the freezer to be stuffed for my wall, anyone have an idea how much this would cost? Jax have you tried it yet
  10. small powerhead with appropriately sized intake nozzle and diy filtersock made of any small netting on the output? isnt that basically one of those 40$ contraptions, only wired?

Im in chch wondering the same thing, would prefer trade supplier. Will be having a ring round tomorrow so will update this thread with my findings.
  12. Do the led strips need a driver or can you just wire them to a dc voltage source?
  13. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/to ... light-bar/ this might help, seems to be a common issue with the juwels
  14. Here in Chch I was quoted $40 from one place(asco) and $50 from another place (tank test), that was to fill one 3kg bottle. Seems a heck of a lot cheaper to fill up north ... unless anyone from chch can suggest somewhere better ?
  15. I feel your pain mate, the exact same thing happened to my ~35cm male jag "Big Guy" about 6 months ago, same symptoms but for no appareant reason, no fly spray ! .. leaving my ~30cm female "Rusty" as a lonely widower Gave a burial fit for a king in the back yard, have since stocked up the tank a little bit to give her some company, but its not easy convincing her to let others play in her playground... I would consider selling her as she is too boisterous for company and the tank is too big for just her and pedro the ggg...
  16. i could recommend a nice lemon sauce?
  17. I just bought one for 50 bucks off trademe last nite, have owned one before, since they are quite a tall wide design the backgrounds would take away alot of your literage as they seem to be about 2 inches thick. I have seen some cool diy ones with interconnecting caves built in and overhangs with marginal plants growing on them.
  18. So many questions, not enough PIIICCCSS ! I would try it with the purple hm first to see how strong the colour comes through, usually theres a good variety in colouring amongst the fry anyhow .
  19. Isnt schooling a defense mechanism? Is someone scaring them ?
  20. at 6$ a kg you just replace all the time its like filter wool the cost is nothing compared to the effectiveness of a fresh batch. It wasnt always this cheap though, I used to bake it in the oven and use it again, seemed to work
  21. how much are awesome plecos like this???
  22. do you guys have dedicated betta barracks? can you show us pics of your betta breeding setups?
  23. Fairly average forum signup requirements?? Basically all public forums I have ever visited do not require you to have a non free email account, they do not require permission to make an account, and they do not require your password to contain uppercase, lower case and numeric digits. Some sites(no forum i have ever joined) have these sorts of extraordinary security measures, but the vast majority of those that do have secure financial information to protect, whereas here, we just talk about fish....... Just sayin....
  24. could be a birthmark? my chinese algae eater has on running up his spine makes him unique and a freak
