  1. Pretty sure "likoma" on here was selling lithos on tm a while ago. Your tank is the same length and width as mine. I reckon you would be better off with 1 male dolphin any females in this setup will heighten aggression
  2. I agree, any females regardless of species is gonna cause aggression what's the dimension of the 450l?
  3. I kept a 5ft 360l male hap peacock tank for about 4yrs with limited success. I would agree 40 odd fish in a 450l is pretty crammed. A lot of advice I received recommend 18-20 males in my 5ftr. In my experience it really is luck of the draw regarding stocking. My stock list was similar to yours without the dreeding groups of giraffes and dems. I would def recommend having spare tanks to remove fish as very rarely did everyone get along. Its just a case of removing fish that are trouble makers and replacing them till you get a good balance. All male tanks are a lot of work but well worth it if you can pull it off as they look awesome. If I was to do one again I would def get a 6ft tank at least they need that extra space. Most people say that it takes a couple of years before you can consider an all male tank a success, its well worth the time and effort imo. Not trying to put you off, these are just my opinions having run an all male tank for a while. Look forward to more updates.
  4. Lovin this thread looks awesome mate tidy setup, congrats!
  5. nice clean set up mate, congrats
  6. Cool. They are awesome lights you'll have to post some pics once you have rescaped
  7. nice one, did you go for the "current satellite" setup, how are the trophs, using more of the tank?
  8. +1 with the rock territories, try having 2 separate rock piles as suggested by smidey at the moment there is 1 structure so the dominant fish are trying to claim it if you split the rock/coral into 2 piles you give the fish more territories to claim. If you go for 3 fryeri will this be 1m and 2f, not sure this will help as fyeri females are notorious for crossbreeding with peacocks so the 2 female fryeri may cause your male peacocks to start fighting. I would suggest a single male fryeri. Are you sure it is the yellows that are causing the problems, they are usually pretty mellow i would have thought it would be the dragonbloods or lwanda or lemon jake that would be kicking off?
  9. Looks good mate, keep an eye on the auratus. 2 is not enough as they are super aggro and not really recommended for a tank that size. Nice work for a 1st set up.
  10. sorry my bad got my posts mixed up you dont have any arautus
  11. Thanks mate appreciate the comment, need to try and get a decent vid and some decent photos sorted. There are some decent size rocks in there and they are resting on the bottom glass so you shouldnt have any issues with yours
  12. nice sump looks good, where did you get the baskets from for the tower filter is it a diy job?
  13. i never bothered, cichlids like to did and move sand around so they just end up exposing the egg crate which looks pretty ugly. I have a lot of rock in my tank and i put down a fine layer of substrate then set all the rock work up and got it to my liking then added the rest of the substrate around the rock work so you kind of bury the rocks in to the substate in stead of sitting the rocks on top of the substrate if ya get what i mean. This also helps keep the rock work a little more stable. I've donr this with all my tanks and never had any probs with rocks resting on glass, all my tanks have been 10mm glass or over.
  14. Am guessing they mean o lithobates. I saw some on tm the other day listed as sulphur heads
  15. nudge

    Malawi Zebras

tank looksawesome some nice looking zebs to.
  16. wow!!! very nice, lets full this bad boy up and get some fish in there
  17. You may have problems with the male peacocks crossbreeding with the fryeri females ( i'm assumin you mean a breeding group of fryeri). Also if you water is already at a low kh won't the wood make it even lower, sure i read somewhere that wood lowers ph
  18. IMO they are hybrids, linebred is different to accidental crossbreeding, just my opinion glad to hear they are going well keep us posted, would love to see some new pics now they have settled in
  19. no worries mate hows the tank coming along, have ya peacocks settled in?
  20. stunning mate, beautiful tank!
  21. Looks to be diatoms, it appears in newly cycled tanks and is harmless usually lasts a few weeks then stops growing. if its annoying you it wipes off pretty easily.
