  1. water changes are a must! i change 50% weekly minimum. plants really like water changes. other low light plants. cryptocoryne species are great low light plants. they come in numerous shapes ,sizes and colours. when recieveing new plants give them a gentel rinse under the tap, thats all i do. also remove damaged leaves, as thesewill just die and rot in your tank.
  2. update. topic: new inhabitants New inhabitants: tangarine shrimp 10 Micro crab - Limnopilos naiyanetri 2 horned nerite snail - clithon corona 2 zebra snail - Vittina coromandeliana Neritina sp. "O-Ring" so basically im really excited. under the h.japan.... MAKE BABIES the crabs and 2 other snails havent been seen since introduced. lol, i dont think ill ever see those micro crabs. sooo tiny. the colouration of the shrimp has improved lots since the photos. illcap this update off with a fts

  5. so picture time this picture was pre trim and new plants, h. japan looks nice but very invasive trimmed it back. hc is being a pain. this picture shows my new plant :DDD Riccardia chamedryfolia also how i attached it to the rocks using netting and zip ties zoomed in a little, doesnt look like much atm. then i made Riccardia chamedryfolia socks haha just an experiment, gonna attach these to some wood like so

FTS friday (eurotime) coming at you a day early cause i away tomorrow.. fissidens gone, algae with it. stourogyne kickin it, love this plant taiwan moss doing what it do otocinclus having a break from its janitorial duties anubaias barterei nana petite being beautiful mrs annulatus in her own company for valentines day till next week folks

  12. ive been playing around with some back ground lighting. this is just trialing, i wanna try it with a more oragne colour. thoughts?
  13. i think its staghorn. i read here http://www.aquariumalgae.blogspot.cz/ that it may be old dieing leaves leaking nutrients. this would make sense as the old fissidens leaves are decaying. ill do my best to remove old leaves and if i get my hands on excel/easy carbo will start to spot dose.
  14. took some plant pictures s. repens a fantastic looking plant h.tripitita 'japan' this stuff grows so quickly and invasively! very pretty plant though im sure its great for out competing algae to look how its coming forward through the java fern i got one pot of h.japan, now i have enough to fill 4 pots just a month later. now a question ive ot this weird stuff growing. it looks like hair algae. but its nowhere apart from the fissidens. are they fissidens roots or is it algae? help?

  16. Looks very nice. What substrate are you using? Plain gravel will Not be enough for the lotus.

  18. Good luck finding altums, never heard of any in nz. If they are you can bet they wont be cheap. The sword Looks like its lacking Iron, this could be a Iron dificiency. Or Magnesium, as it required for the uptake of iron.

  20. Loaches do a wonderful Job, i love watching them grab the snail and suckin em out :nilly:
