  1. ive had this to its absolutly gutting, i lost like 60 buks worth of narrow windelov and regular javafern, it regrows from the rhizome. i have no idea how to stop it.
  2. thanks good idea so thats the filter partlybehind the tank
  3. todayi added a background, its just a bit of the stuff you put on school books. its got like a milky translucent colour. seems to be the way to go when aquascaping these days haha i plan on adding a sunrise affect with some yellow orange LED light
  4. i used them when i worked in a pet store in nelson, never had any faults.
  5. Thanks joe! i always appreciate your comments yes shrimp and Sundadanio axelrodi are on the shopping list already
  6. thanks but the busy look is sorta what im goin for, like a jungle scene
  7. plants use a wide rang range of kelvin, but i generally go for 6500K java fern and red plants have very different requirements. plants are approx 50% carbon so faster growing red plants need a lot more carbon then slow growers. if you wanna go low tech only use low light plants, you can still get some very cool colours, especially from crypts!
  8. hey guys thanks to all the tips and advise, im taking them all into consideration. i did another scaape, thoughts on this one?
  9. hey guys so im updating my status from abroad Today i purchased a 30L nano aquarium from aquael i decided that the stock filter would not cut it so i upgraded to an aquaclear 30, these are rate for aquariums up to 114 so i think filtration is good enough. for lighting i have two 11watt bulbs, hopefully these will be sufficiant to grow some high light plants. the heater that came with the tank was well crap, it doesnt even let you regulate temperature and has a set temp so i will need i new one of those to  substrate i bought an 8kg bag of fluval stratum, i used about 5-6 kg the hard scape is bog wood and dragon stone. these pictures are as it it now the plant wish list is Hemianthus callitrichoides Cuba stouregyne repens anubias petite fissidens narrow leafed microsorium hygrophila pinnitafida hydrocotyle "japan" crypt cordata blyxa japonica hopefully i get all that :happy2: hope you stay tuned!
  10. personally i think your being a bit picky. i work at a pet store in nelson. im 18 and this is my 4th job. i tried for a long time to get a job ive worked in hospitality and even cleaning. once you have had some work experience it gets a lot easier. when applying for a pet store i put my cv under the door of the un opened shop. i had pictures of previous aquariums etc. showing that you are very passionate is super important. good luck
  11. looks cool and i love your cories! but i reckon you should put a schooling fish in there. glow light danios would be effective IMO the tank does mimic their natural enviroment with large rocks and moderate flow. EDIT: i realize the mistake i made. cories and loaches are schooling fish too. i meant ofcoarse mid swimming schooling fish. q:
