  2. pretty shore the glad wrap becomes the laying media bowl effectively. not just wall between the 2 sides. you just have to find what works for you
  3. "None of the progeny have shown any signs of abnormalities" ???????????
  4. Thanks. i have some digital thermometer, so have been keeping an eye on the setups over the weekend. Thanks might look into that next time. have never used thermostats on locusts, don't even use thermometers any more :slfg: if they are all in a pile under the light, they are to cold. if the are all in the corners, too hot.
  5. the room already has a large heat transfer fan so. there is already heaps of air movement. would a small fan inside the enclosure effect the temp gradient, by blowing all the hot air down the cool end ?????
  6. ok thought it would be better to have the probe where the gecko is
  7. A lot more than the geckos. :slfg: probably close to $450 just for the materials. lighting and heating few hundy more.
  8. Thanks but i had already order some Thanks everyone for the input
  9. cheers will put them all on thermostats not worth doing it halfassing it. Have got a few 100w ceramics. i have found there's good, use them in my other enclosures and locusts boxes and have not burnt out after 2 years of 24/7 running http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =506643818 think thermostats will work ok, plug should work if not will re-wire
  10. Ok thanks for that. these are looking good http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... ermanent=0
  11. thanks for the feedback. so know one really uses them heat mat covering 1/3 of the enclosure. would i need to put a thermostat in each enclosure or just the middle one??. I am very keen to use tiles for there look, easy to clean and the heat absorption. Here a pic of it so far, finished the finishing lines. just need to get the tracks and perspex or glass. tracks will sit on the 40x18mm (behind the 60x10) so you wont be-able to see them. am going to varnish the whole thing. you may not be-able to see but there is mesh in that strip at the top of each enclosure.
  12. Am in the process of building a leopard gecko enclosures. will post pics soon -there are 3 enclosures all built into one rack (so 3 high). they measure 900Lx450Dx400H. all made of ply with sliding doors. -the floors will be tiled -lighting will be done with LED's to prevent over heating (day,dawn/dusk,night) -will be in my reptile room so doesn't really get colder than 17 degrees my Question is what is the best way to heat them, i don't really want to use a thermostat, maybe a dimmer. am leaning towards a heat pad under the tiles at one end, but don't know what brand, Wattage to get
  13. Winters over man you will struggle to keep them cold enough now. all frogs and bearded are up now over here
  14. Thanks for the comments everyone, Yer i know but was unable to fit 3 rooms in and didn't want to go to big because im still at home and don't plan on living at home for ever :slfg: first one is empty because it was only planted last week and Whistling Tree frogs in the other. the 4 tanks are 800x700x450mm (LxHxD). and there is going to be a 1500mm G&G bell breeding tank up top but needs to be repaired first.
  15. So its been awhile so thought i would update. Have add the frog rack This is the misting system pump and water tank Photo is before the tanks went in you can see the overflow (black Pipe) and the misting pipes (clear to smaller black tube) Had to upgrade the front rooms extraction fans to a 150mm heat transfer kit Livefood room has had a bit added locusts on left, crickets right Have only set up 2 frog tanks fully
  16. +1 animates struggles to provide proper care for frogs i don't think a specialist eating reptile like a horny devil would last long at all. animates as far as i have seen only feeds there reptiles that dry locusts "stuff", tiny meal worms and flies. what was the price of them?? someone would have to have sold them to them. and im picking $3000+ would be what a breeder/smuggler would be wanting for them + them huge mark up animates adds to everything. Plus i don't think someone would walk into animates and be like "hay ive got these to sell, they illegal do you want them."
  17. Yer has been good to me so far i bought a pump local 75psi but it was not strong enough so took it back and payed abit more for a 125 psi but i could only find ones with a built in presure switch so they were switching on and off every second with made the room like christchurch, and it blew up so bought a mist king one for cheaper than i spent on nz ones, shipping does kill you though. mist king one is pretty quite though. i found them very help full emailed the owner directly and he was very help full, will post pics tomorrow on my reptile room topic if i get time. not all tanks are set up but o well
  18. Yer mist king but only bought the nozzles and pump (could not fine a good enough pump here that didn't shake the whole shed) all the pipes local it is a mean system though can run 20 nozzles, but it all adds up $$$. i was just sick of the one of the garden sprinklers blocking and making the others mini water blasters. made the water tank out of perspex, probably could of done it cheaper with a bucket  , but was borred and had newer mad a perspex tank before so thought i would give it ago :slfg: yep got mine on a timer come on every 4 house for 1 min.
  19. not shore of the plants name just got it from the warehouse in the "weeie cuties" section i think. I bought my misting system in from US but it is quite a big set up. its basically a small water tank with a bulk head to the pump then it branches off to all the enclosures. it is set up for 4 700x400 and one 1500x600 tank. have not set up all the tanks yet but all in good time
  20. Very cool one of the better ones ive seen
  21. Re did my whistling tree frog enclosure are few months ago and is starting to grow in added in a mean automatic mistings system, better lighting, false bottom and over flow. so the enclosure does about a 10% water change a day
  22. i do something similar to reptilenutt. i dig a hole the same size as a bucket and put the bucket inside the hole and cover it with iron, ply etc. the crickets fall in the bucket and can't get out
