  1. Ok, thanks. Some people recommended applying it directly to the 'wound', like take her out apply it, and put her back in. Any thoughts?
  2. Just worried about prices, uncommon cats usually aren't cheap  You're right, quite a bit too big Apprantly it's a fast grower and vicious fin nipper as well
  3. Any idea what could have caused this/how to treat it? She's in isolation treated with tonic, she had fungus before, but never as bad as this, usually just a white sheen over her scales.
  4. "Donna Moot, the city's "Turtle Lady","
  5. I also recommend getting a PC over a MAC. Apart from the fact far more software is compatible with a PC, you can also customize a PC far more than you could a MAC. And on top of that, you'll pay more for the same specs when buying a MAC.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions Local LFS has butterflys at 80$ ea, couldn't really afford a group of them
  7. Awesome looking tank, looks far better than my dp tank  ' good luck with your puffers, they sure are spoiled
  8. As long as you're sure they won't kill each other.. I might be interested, it was $25 each and $23 for shipping to Nelson right? I'd like to get two if that's OK, preferably the least aggressive two of the three, would get more but I fear my 100L would only be suitable for two and three is a bit out of price range   As I said at the start of the thread, getting tank made now, but it won't be finished until early next week ( ) and I'll have to wait for tank to cycle (got plenty of tanks to seed bacteria from so won't take tooo long) so I wouldn't be able to buy them until the end of next week-ish (give or take a few days), would that be OK? Edit: Do you think one would be happy by itself? I was kinda reluctent to ask for just one because I figured it would be quite lonely, but I'm also quite worried about their aggression so yeah, lol. If anyone here can give me some advice would be greatly appreciated as my only (puffer) experience is with my two dwarf puffers
  9. Asked HFF and they only have nandus nandus, and I doubt they'd be happy in my 100L tank >.
  10. Are these the only ones that are available in New Zealand? I just read they can grow up to 8 inches Edit; sorry re-read your post, have sent email to HFF
  11. I read they can grow up to 10" Way too big for my tank edit - Had a look at Scarlet badis, they look very, very cool. Any idea what the price range would be though, was recomended to keep in semi large schools and couldn't really afford that if they are like $50 each
  12. Wow they look awesome!! 8) I saw these but they look really erm, ugly
  13. Thanks Local fish store has pantadon's but whenever I see them they are floating in the corner looking dead, and the first time I saw them I told the lfs lady that she had dead fish in her tank! I wouldn't really consider hatchet oddball, I thought gobbies required brackish water, and I will look into killies, thanks
  14. Never heard of them, so good suggestion I'll read up on them now, any idea if anyone sells them? i hope you aren't making sport of me btw
  15. Already have some in a different tank
  16. I had thought about puffers, but they tend to be really aggressive and didn't want to go for them.
  17. Today I ordered a 100L tank to be made. My plan is to fill it with a ton of plants, a plecostomus and/or some cories. I also would like to get a single (or several, if inexpensive)... Odd fish, something a bit different. I was originally planning on getting an elephant nose but I read up on them and found they can grow FAR too large for my planned tank. Preferably a peaceful fish, and something that won't spend all it's time hiding (like eel's do  ). And if possible not horrendously expensive  So.. Looking for suggestions, help me out guys By the way, tank dimensions are; 70 long, 36 back to front, 40 high.
  18. I also changed from gravel to sand and because I was currently using an UG filter, which wouldn't work with silica sand.. I had to remove it and replace it.. When I did this I bagged fish (stuck em in another tank to keep 'em warm), stuck most of the water in a bucket (note i was doing it in a 30L tank ) pulled out all the gravel and poured sand over the crap in the bottom of the tank (it gets really disgusting there with all the stuff that collects under the UG filter ). Had no problems, and only kept the water for bacteria~, though if you have canisters as well you clearly won't need to keep as large as a percentage I used a net (like someone said previously), but I think in a larger tank a dustpan would probably work better..
