  1. I know, :tears: I felt so bad doing it but I am not in a financial potion to buy another tank any time soon :cry1: . Have a larger hexi one back in Hamilton but will be ages before I get back up there. Once I have sold of this lot then I will let another lot hatch. It's cruel but fair on the others.
  2. Give "Bishop" a PM. He's in palmy and may have some glass left. he's made all his own tanks and really seems to have the hang of it now.
  3. Just did a water change to find 24 eggs on the top glass. got rid of them cuz the wee tank can't support any more fish
  4. Honestly it's just luck for me. The pH is around 6-7, only have litmus paper type testers, tewp. stays around 24-25, um the fluval lighting went a while back so at the moment it is a Phillips daylight bulb in a desk lamp. just use Prime when I do a bucket water change and have only been feeding them algae tablets. Had this same luck with my panda cories a few years back. Just started finding babies in my big community tank. Do miss those little guys
  5. OK I finally have photos. took all morning and the quality is really bad but you can make out what's what ...... hopefully. This is where it all happened. You can't tell in this photo but there are lots of week old fry swimming around. Mum and Dad hanging out together are they do. Mum is the left one. This is the fry about a week after they started to swim. And this is them yesterday. about 6 or 7 in this one. Have found 3 dead ones since they were eggs but apart from that think there is still between 20-30 in there
  6. I'm trying i'm trying. would work if my phone could pick any of it up
  7. well my mum has the first 4 and think my mate will want a few but after that sure. send me a pm so I got a record to remember
  8. just 2 lol and after a week I started to notice the female getting rounded and hoped it was a pair but never thought they'd actually breed in the tank I had them in
  9. I am having so much trouble trying to first get pics of the little guys and then loading them on to my useless net book I have just given up for now. And I don't know how much.... they're way to small to sell yet but probs be round like $10 since their like $20ish in stores. Or will just trade in for stuff like plants
  10. NICE :rotf: yea but I don't want all the oto's just yet. need time
  11. So it looks as though I have 2-3 generations of fry already. The tank is going to be over crowded before I can cycle a new tank long enough to not kill them
  12. right so now the common number is 25........ I think I may have to move the pair into a proper set up cuz it'll be hard to continuously catch fry from the Fluval tank
  13. Just counted and the 13 have turned into 18 lol. Must have had eggs in the java fern I didn't see. Which is also weird because I read that they typically laid 6-9 eggs
  14. to be honest I have done nothing lol and my camera can't really pick them up at their current size &c:ry so no pics of the actual fry till their bigger
  15. I knew I'd get picked up on the incorrect spelling lol. Just looked at them and I have 13 eggs with lettle tails so stoked =) just hope there is enough food for them
  16. Haha nice. Yea I had that happen with a group of Angles. checked on the eggs today and at least 6 have what seems to be black dots forming so hoping that means their a 6 new fish for tha tank. Saw the fry again today. He looks like a bristlenose fry but gray like the parents with a few black stripes. All this is making me what to set up all my tanks again lol
  17. Have just looked at the tank and there are a dozen or so eggs on the top glass :happy2: Here's hoping more than one are fertile . Trying to get the photos on to the laptop but may take some time. stay tuned... P.S. I have been feeding the parents on Alpha One vege wafers but have noticed that the last one I put in there a day ago has just been left to go off. suggestions?
  18. Right so cleaning out my tank and who do I happen to find on the glass but a little stripped fry.... who's was it? well definitely not the Neon tetras so would have to be my pair of ottos. Got them a month or so ago and with in a few days it was obvious I have a male and female but didn't think I could breed them so left it. But low and behold they managed to do it any way =) So now the Neons are going and I am going to just let them do their thing till I have to many for the little tank. As this is my first time really breeding them any tips you have would be greatly appriciated. Not really wanting to be to hands on with them more a less just leave them to their own devise. They are in a fluval edge 23L with a decent sized java fern on wood and a few stones which I will swap out for some with more algae over time. Have also covered the out take with a sponge to stop fry going to a ride. When I get them and can work out my camera there will be photos to follow.
  19. is that the EDGE with the halogen or LED lighting?? looks really good
  20. I have been waiting for a guy from work to give me the number of someone who has free chickens but it has been 2 months now and he keeps forgetting.... SO...... I am after 2 hens, egg laying and healthy. I don't mind what breed as I currently have 2 different hens. If anyone has any or know's of any one, drop me a line or give them my number. James Mellsop 0276009033. looking in the Palmerston North, Manawatu area and can pick up on wednesdays or thursdays. Cheers
