  1. Good to hear your move went easy. I move on the 20th of Feb. Wish me luck. I'll update thread when I've moved.
  2. Bristlenoses! Lots of them
  3. Everyone has different needs and wants I guess. Of the times I have had good service at HFF, I have had some of the best service,so I guess it balances it's self out.
  4. That's a good idea. Cheers.
  5. Wow, thanks for the offer, I'll pm you if I get stuck.
  6. They have a small opening in the top for the water to go in and out, meaning I would need to pour the fish out. Which seems a little mean They are water and fish friendly, but not so practical I guess. Think jerry can if ya know what I mean. I can't use salt, with the loaches. Stress coat! why didn't I think of that. Cheers. Thanks I will let you know if I get stuck.
  7. The tank is an aqua one tank, so has plastic bottom under the glass, so the gravel should be fine with some water, but i will use the wood trick thanks. Thanks for the advice on the filter, I was wondering about that. The 20l containers are NEW oil containers, as in they are designed for oil, so not very fish friendly. They haven't had anything in them yet, so they will be fine for water, but a mission to get fish in and out of. I was considering a 20l container from plastic box for the fish, which will be easier. . Ill stay away from heat pads cheers. Noted. Cheers Yeah, I need it. I have 2 cats, 3 budgies, and a 3 bedroom house worth of furniture, to squeeze into a single bedroom cottage. But it's cheap, and house saving is on the agenda, so it needs to be.
  8. I work in Manukau. What Clounge is saying, is people deal with people, not with companies. If you have a bad experience somewhere, you are hesitant to go back. If I go somewhere, and am ignored, I won't go back. I know Clounge, and I know the company he owns, and the service is the best in the country, they are the best for one reason, SERVICE. They are not always the cheapest, but they are at least reasonable, but the people they employ, and the service they give are the best in NZ. Service is what matters, If you go somewhere, and are made to feel like you shouldn't be there, you won't go back, but if you greeted, and asked if you need a hand (esp if your waiting at the counter) you will go back. As far as range goes, My local animates has/can get, most of what I need for my tropicals, granted they don't do marine, but yeah they are more expensive most of the time.
  9. I am soon to be moving house, my move will take about 30 mins to drive, and about an hour to set up tank etc. I am going to get 3x 20l containers (new) to save about 60l of water, and my filter is a canister, so I can keep the media in water at least, by closing the valves prior to the move. If I bag my fish (1 bag per gourami, 1 bag for the tetras (4), 1 bag for the bristlenoses (2), and 1 bag for the loaches (if I can catch the little buggers)) When I set up, I will be adding about 40l of new water, and some melafix to help them settle in, and approx 60l of old water. I figure i will transport the bags in poly boxes, will i need heat pads? Any help will be much appreciated, as I don't want to loose any fish, due to stress. I will transport the tank with the gravel in place, and hopefully keep it as moist as possible, as to not disturb the bacteria in the gravel, but not too much so that it could damage the tank. Should this be fine? Any tips other for me? WRONG SUBFORUM! can a mod move please.
  10. I usually go via manukau, that new Motorway extension is awesome. But to be honest, I try and go to Albany now, it's just so much better.
  11. Hey Clounge I too have had this experience at MT Roskill, but they have a lot of the stock no one else has, and the price is right ($300 cheaper on an AquOne aquarium than Animates?). It seems to me that Albany staff are much nicer to deal with. When I got to Roskill, I get the feeling that I am not worthy, or am not as much of an expert, and I shouldn't be there. The exception being one of the younger guys there, he is as helpful as can be, he always acknowledges my presence, and is never short of advice and service. Generally speaking, the weekend staff are brilliant.
  12. Thanks for the input guys. Constant murmur? I honestly didn't hear it, will need to go and have another listen next time I'm up there. I'd really love a reef, but I don't have the room for much more than the 130d. So this might be an opportunity to get into a reef, then upgrade when i buy my own house.
  13. Oh, so, a clown fish or two, and a Blue Damsel, with some coral should be fine. Are there any major negatives to them, would they suit a beginner to reef?
  14. I was under the impression that the clownfish need an anemone?
  15. Hey everyone, I was in at HFF Albany today, and noticed they have a RSM 130 on display with a Clownfish and another. I have always wanted a marine, but don't have room for much more than my current AR620T. The RSM130 is about the same size, and would be perfect (size wise) for me. Are there any massive downfalls or problems with these all in one set-ups? I only want 1-2 Clownfish, and maybe a another small fish, and of course some corals and anemone. What do you guys think of the Red Sea Max systems?
  16. Lights unlimited in Ellerslie, is where i get mine from.
  17. Yeah mine seem fine as well, but id like to make them as comfortable as possible.
  18. Hey everyone. What are some floating plants we can get here in NZ, that are suitable for a covered aquaone aquarium. I am wanting to add more Gourami's to my tank, and my research tells me floating plants are a must? I don't want something that's going to hinder feeding, or block the light too much. The web is great, but not so useful for telling me what I can get in nz.
  19. Correct. That is what she is. Radnom has been identified Goldfish Pagoda in Pakuranga. Accidently I might add, I wanted Glowlight Tetras My friend has barbs, I sent him a pic and he sent me one of his females, and they are identical. So my mission this week, is to get 4 more cherry barbs, and in a couple of weeks, some more Glowlights :D
  20. I purchased some glowlight tetra's, and i seem to have got a random fish in the bag, he doesn't school with the glowlights, but swims around and eats fine, I would like to ID him, so I can get him some mates. Sorry about the pics, My camera is rubbish, and this fish is fast

I'm just down the road from you, and mines at 26.3, the thermometer set at 24, so its warm, I have had the lights off all day, for the same reason, also leaving the hood open, and got 2 air stones on full power trying to stir up the water.
