  1. I think it's about 20-22ish. They are getting some polystyrene to insulate them shortly too. Is there a temperature you recommend? I thought it had to be at the cooler end to simulate the rainy season.
  2. These are pygmaeus - have been feeding them up but don't seem to be growing any so I think they are full sized. They have been in the quiet love nest in the garage since the weekend, just waiting on some moss to arrive and then I shall start playing them Barry White... then hopefully some eggs. At present they have just a sponge filter, sand and rocks for the river bed feel, some oak leaves and some very small crypts in pots I am trying to grow a bit.

    Broken heater?

I hunted out the box and receipt (I keep everything :smln: ) and discovered that Animates receipts are programmed to self destruct after 6 months hahaha . It is much faded but you can just make out the date and the item. P44, if they swiped my yellow club card at the time will it show as a transaction on there too?

ooh back to the shop then did you do anything to yours or did it just happen?
  9. Would you agree with this? (I read an anecdote that suggested that from above males look like speedboats and females like tugboats :gigl: ) From top down 1 male 2 female 3 female 4 male left to right 1 male 2 male 3 female lowest one - male
  10. Noticed this today - the coils at the bottom of the heater have come unfurled somewhat. I don't know when or why it happened but it still heats to a steady temperature. I can't even remember the last time I took the heater out of the tank or when it could possibly have been bumped. Very odd. And this is an Eheim too. :-?
  11. as it's a cory tank I will stay away from wood that could have salt in it but I'm sure I can find something suitable at the park instead. Charles has given me plenty of trees to go hunting under

  14. This will be going in a tank that I am trying to get fish to breed in so need to keep the water as clean and fungus free as possible at least until I think I know what I'm doing. Since oak leaves are OK, maybe the twigs are also alright if I boil them too? :dunno:

  16. what sort of thing would you be buying? I looked up my filter - it's half the price of buying locally but the additional price of postage is the cost of buying a new filter here
