  1. wow blue guppies are wonderful! I too would like to know if anyone with blue ones are in Wellington as id be keen to buy some
  2. i too have had a live bearer burst at the seem down the middle front it was a platty thou - looked very weird. No fry survived. I think it just happens - not ur fault
  3. thats soooo helpful phonix - i thought it was prob not particularly special but its neat to watch oh no thou .... 15cms will turn into 40cms huh? Know anyone keen for one when it gets big by any chance? it's nice but I like breeding live bearers and i guess when its bigger it will accidently suck the babies up Can I stunt its growth in anyway? like not putting in a bigger tank?
  4. wow thats a long process to upload photos! Thanks heaps for helping me out
  5. aaah i took pictures but i cant actually work out how to upload them
  6. I posted a question in beginers and now at least I know my pleco is a catfish lol Ive inherited a nice looking pleco and im worried its one of those ones that grow to 40 -50cms. Can someone perhaps help me out with identifying it? im stuck! Ive looked at catfish planet, but boy there are so many variations! To be honest now i am 99% sure its not a bristle nose as it has no bristles - although maybe only males have them? But im not really any closer to working out if its a perhaps a sailfin Pterygoplichthys gibbiceps or the common Pterygoplichthys pardalis. Either way i think these both grow to 40 - 50cms dont they? What on earth am I gonna do with it lol its about 15 cms now and I have no idea how old it is. Also if I do have a type that grow huge then if I leave it in a 67litre hexy tank then will this stunt it? or will it be a big red clifford? All and any help or advice is appreciated guys
  7. thanks everyone! To be honest now i am sure its not a bristle nose as it has no bristles - although maybe only males have them? 8. hi guys, ive just inherited a pleco algae eater and it is very nice looking, but im worried that it might be one of those ones that never stops growing! it is approx 10cms now and im unsure how old. i remember a pet shop telling me once there were two main 'normal plain' species and one keeps growing and the other only gets to perhaps 5- 8 cms. Is this true? and if so then how do I work out if mine is a big red clifford disaster waiting to happen or just a nice normal biggish fully grown one? The internet google searches are useless really so Im hoping someone here can give me some tips?! any other tips on them too is appreciated - its in with my bachelor livebearers and is super active all the time - i hope it doesnt eat them
  9. AHHHH NOOOOOO!!! as nzers we've already made the massive mistake of importing bloody terrible things into our virgin country like gorse then rabbits, possums, cats and countless other pests. i too would LOVE a squirel or similar but if nz let in more non native things then our beautiful little native birds would have even more competition for food and we could say goodbye to being called kiwis ps: Chinchillas are exciting! and rats are awesome pets! anyway this is a fish site so get some fish instead lol - jokes
  10. baby bunnies are wonderful! you can toilet train them to be house bunnies from that age and if u intend to keep it then i def suggest it. Its all too often people get bunnies when little and then put them in a cage outside once they've grrown and thats it for 6 - 10 yrs. its so sad. Couple of tips from my long experience with rabbits: Definatly NOTHING with sugar in their diet - although they love it, they DO NOT NEED IT! Be prepared to have ALL electrical and phone cords chewed in half - they cant help themselves lol NEVER FEED LETTUCE EVER. and not too many veges per day as u will get squelshies. Hay is super good for them and ur carpets Please dont leave the bunny unattended where ur cats can get it - only until it is perhaps a year old and fully grown and has had pleanty of sucessful interactions with ur cats will it fight them off. Give ur bunny 'chin rubs' like a cat. It will bond with u well with these - if ur bunny licks ur hands it is a sign of affection and it likes the salt on ur skin too. Keep us all posted Have a fruit tree branch for it to chew to keep its teeth healthy
