  1. I'm with adodge, I don't really like those whiptails either but he does look pretty good.
  2. The snails do ok at eating algae but nowhere as effective as a bristlenose pleco. They probably will multiply exponentially and you will need an outlet for all of the surplus or you will never see your gravel again past the shells! I would never recommend anyone get snails unless they have some fish to keep their population in check.
  3. I wish my king tigers would come out like that. And don't even get me started on the chocolate zebras! Every few months I have to check if they're still in the tank.
  4. Maybe they will reach 2 feet long if they are growing so rapidly. Or maybe they are just being fed too much!
  5. They seemed common enough so surely more will come in at some point. I would have got myself some as well but I have my hands full at present with the other plecos I have.
  6. Cichlids will eat them. Darin count yourself lucky. My GBAs decided to lay their eggs in the open so now I have to look after them and hatch them.
  7. They breed like rabbits and will probably breed again maybe 2-3 weeks later. The only way to stop them is to separate them, so mine now live apart.
  8. Maybe he's just been swimming all day!
  9. From that link is my assumption that measuring the hardness of the water for GH and possibly KH would suffice or does it require an electronic meter to test it?
  10. They seem to grow the fish to the point they can eat prepared foods quite well. Sorry for taking the thread off topic!
  11. That lazy SOB was supposed to be racing my hare!
  12. Phoenix your L002 rocks! Very nice patterning. How many of these do you have? Have you bred them?
  13. What are these daphnias? I have a bin outside growing mosquito larvae and it has small pin prick sized dots swimming about in it which appear to grow into something like sandflies. I have used them to feed newborn guppys and had great success.
  14. Check the top one again Rabbit. The tail is clamped so its not as easy to see but that is clearly L066 and the lower and closer one is L270. The pics are dark so its hard to pinpoint other distinguishing features. Still, all pics are better than I seem to manage!
  15. Not really relevant but I LOOOOOVE the king tiger tails. King tigers and chocolate zebras can be hard to determine at times but I find the king tigers have nice long elegant tails and the chocolate zebras have kind of manky tails in comparison. In the last pic of them the king tiger at the top has long looking tail fin(even though its closed) and the chocolate zebra has a less pointed tail. There are other subtleties but at times I go by this.
  16. Mine is probably around 6in so maybe still carrying some baby fat lol
  17. Is that well enough fed? My royal looks a lot more pot bellied than that.
  18. King tiger and L066 are one and the same. The first pic you posted is one of Mr Plecos L226 tiger panaques. My dom male seems to look quite dark like that and his stripes are hard to see at times aside from on his fins. Its definitely not any of the other suggestions and if you purchased it from Mr Pleco then L226 is what it is for certain.
  19. Didn't they find similar when McD's was putting sawdust in their burgers. They found sawdust was of no nutritional value.
  20. Is it possible something happened which munched the adult fish up and maybe all the eggs just got spread from inside her. In that case they may not be fertile.

    Gold spot

I thought L001's topped out around 12in, smaller than their redspot cousins.
  22. How are your ph levels? You say you are doing water tests and everything is ok, but my sister has just informed me her Manukau water supply has really high ph over the past couple of days for some reason.
  23. I swat flies and feed them to my cichlids. They seem to appreciate them.
  24. FYI Carlos and Siran, your "goldspot" looks to me like a redspot. I believe its a gibby rather than a goldspot.
