  1. I agree with the above, I'd leave them. I often leave my fish without food when I'm away for the weekend and only feed my fish every other day usually. Feeding blocks can cause more problems than they solve, polluting the water rapidly when fish can be without food for weeks is an unnecessary risk. HTH

That's a real shame :bounce: Yes, that's right. I used the bounce emote

Yes, I will have to. They're beautiful fish but single killies cannot handle it.

Hello Jambls. Are you really feeling all those emotions or just pushing the limits?

I just put the pair of them in there, they went nuts and started attacking my killies So I moved them to the 2 footer until I decide what to do with them, may need to buy some more but they're even chasing each other :-? Regarding the water changes, I only do around 8l everyday, probably less actually. Been away for the weekend and the algae got worse.

I have no ottos left I was actually planning on doing an update, did a larger than normal water change and scrubbed everything I could of algae. Not much change really, Hygro has started to go red, glosso is doing okay and hairgrass is spreading fast.
  7. Welcome. I wouldn't put a heater in that is anything but acceptable. 200w should be plenty, no point risking fish's lives with a faulty heater. Is it just dirty or actually damaged/old?
  8. All the glosso died off when I planted it, then the new growth came through. Mine was purchased obviously immersed though. HTH
  9. No point using excel on something that can be scrubbed :-? Use only on plants really.
  10. The depth looks different in the photos due to the angle they're taken on. Having only 10-20mm of substrate at the very front of the glass makes the tank look deeper, keep it flat too. Looks far better than the gravel 8)

    Greetings!

A common misconception, fighters can get on with other tank mates and do so often. The common problems are fast, nippy and aggressive tank mates, grouchy fighters and fish that look like fighters. Even a fancy short finned fighter would go nicely in that tank. Welcome and HTH
  12. On that note, if anyone has a car that goes (without being pushed first preferred) that they'd like me to take off their hands for free, I'm more than happy regardless of make or model. Thanks
  13. Float them until the excel kills the algae and you are no longer dosing it. Be sure to do a large water change before putting them back in. You could risk just leaving them in but being so unusual and beautiful I wouldn't take my chances.
  14. Any chance of putting the loaches in another tank or floating them in the main tank?
  15. I'd say BBA too. Just scrub what you can, excel the stuff you can't. HTH
  16. Sorry to hear that He was a beautiful fish. He was a pet fish yeah? Easier to be detached to less personal fish like tetras and such. It does get easier as time goes on, I guess I'm desensitized now. I used to be so gutted when my fish died when I first started, now it's no biggie.
  17. Big men don't need protection
  18. I'd say up the protein rich and live foods, they helped my Betta get better when his tail was reduced to almost nothing.
  19. I used to play Happy Aquarium, but gave up on all Facebook games/apps. Time wasters IMO.
  20. Just because he's a mini giant I was thinking river stones, driftwood and some Hygro for now?
  21. 6ft ain't little by my standards :-?
