  1. Yeah, it's not willow. Pics?
  2. Just you. It's howling and pouring down here, not quiet at all :-?
  3. 25-30cm isn't much over 30cm
  4. Oh awesome man. Maybe I can buy a pair from your next batch?
  5. Overhead filter as in, a hang on the back filter? What sort of tank do you have Ethanyo? Maybe we can tell you more after more details 8)
  6. Yeah right. ADA is not only very overpriced but isn't readily available here. Using a filter intake, inline diffuser or a diffuser off a member on these forums is far easier and cheaper than ordering that ADA gear. Also, you don't HAVE to use a diffuser at all, you'll just save a lot of CO2 if you use one. I have my DIY CO2 going through one of P44's diffusers (equal or better quality than ADA) sitting under my HOB intake. Plants are going nuts, proof enough for me. HTH

    Hi Everyone

    Welcome to the fishroom 8)
  8. Just a nano then. A 60x30x30 is good, I have two on a shelf, they are only 54L though but really fun to plant. A 90x30x30 is better, 81L and you can choose some of the larger species then.
  9. I used to have a "circle guppy". Well, that's what I called him. For no reason he'd just spin around in his own little circle, like a dog chasing his tail. He grew out of it eventually. But your Danios are probably just showing off
  10. Wow, those are neat. What are they exactly?
  11. Tried Aquabid.com? They have heaps
  12. Nope, none of that fancy stuff. Just plain and simple garden soil. I think we all look foward to what it will do
  13. Still have to ask mum, it is her car after all
  14. Maybe, it's quite close to my hood. MSN me a street address man so I can Google it 8)
  15. Yes, perhaps if the algae gets all to much I could switch to terrestrial grass  I like hairgrass, I feel I can do it better on a slightly larger scale this time, perhaps sell some too. I am also wondering what the soil might do, there isn't much of it but we'll see
  16. At this stage, I'm going to blast the CO2 but eventually fish will be in there. I'm not sure how the dirt will affect them, or even whether it will affect them at all. We shall see
  17. Camoflouge is doing it's job

    Albino Guppies?

Could be the distortion of the glass?
  19. Local Fish Store. HTH 8) (Hope that helps)
  20. Yeah, thanks again man. I have no problems sorting through all the sticks, leaves and random bits, I got a lot more out of it than I expected I usually just use plain sand, sometimes with commercial clay balls. I've been trying out some DIY clay balls and got good results with them. I figured garden soil is bound to have more nutrients that just sand alone, hoping to get some fine results here 8) If I could do it again, I'd only make the sand 40mm deep, 50mm might be a bit deep for the hairgrass to send roots right down.
  21. Joining multiple tanks with fish that cannot be kept together? Perhaps fighters or something? Also a really cool effect
  22. The Hairgrass Project V.2 So today I started my latest project, growing hairgrass again using a 60x30x30cm tank (54L), DIY CO2 and 1x 18w T8 6500k tube. Supasi sent some hairgrass on Thursday and it arrived on Friday so I seperated it all Friday night and got planting on Saturday. But first I went digging for some soil to help the plants along. I simply removed the big roots and rocks, broke up the large clumps and spread it roughly on the bottom of the tank. Then I added the sand ontop, and levelled it out. Then I planted all the hairgrass I had seperated the night before in a sort of half circle shape. I then added Ambulia in the background empty space and filled the tank up slowly and carefully. Disturbing the soil would leave the tank cloudy for days. I will add CO2 later on today. It looks pretty awful at this stage but I'm hoping it gets much better soon.
