Thank you and I agree with Ianab and Caryl. Guppies won't make it through the winter unless they had a heater which really doesn't make them cold water tolerant. The pet shop in New Plymouth told me that people even put tetras such neons in cold water. Which I just find a little stupid to be honest. But also like Stella said, you also got to think about the summer. A tank will eventually heat up if you don't have any cooling and if you have them in a hot area. But who am I to say, I was the one who asked. :lol:

I surpose it was about a year ago I was sitting on a swing with my friend on the other at about 10pm. I was being stupid and went upside down and looked at the sky. I pointed at something that looked like the moon and commented, "the moon looks nice tonight" Well! that's where my friend laughed. Apparently it wasn't the moon. It was a street light. :oops: :lol: :lol:

Oh that really does suck. Unfortunately we haven't got a pond at the moment. But I'm planning on building one when my partner and I buy our own place. I sure hope that doesn't happen. How many fish did you end up saving anyway?

My boyfriend had some plants in his tropical tanks, but they decided to start dieing. As soon as I got my coldwater tank I put those plants in there and they seem to be doing much better. I think it all really depends on the actual temperature you have your tank sitting at.

When I was a bit younger we had a neighbor who kept goldfish and frogs together. They seemed to do very well. The only problem was the other predators like birds. From what I remember my neighbor said aslong as the tadpoles had a good hiding spot and heaps of space from the fish, they'll be fine since all fish like to taste test. :lol:

Hi there, I'm fairly new to keeping fish but I'm looking into starting another coldwater tank but I haven't got the slightest clue as to what fish can handle coldwater. I already know goldfish, minnows...etc can. But is there actually any other species that can? Unusual or common fish don't bother me, I'd just like some ideas. Thank you.

Thank you. Well my tank sits at about 20C and doesn't get any colder. So I think they'll be fine. But to be sure, I'm going to put a heater in for the winter season.

The other day I was reading up on Danios and didn't realise the temperature they can handle. So I thought I'd give it a go with putting them in my goldfish tank, where I have 1 shubunkin, 2 comets, 1 blackmoor, 6 minnows, 1 algae eater and 1 snail. To my surprise they're perfectly fine and haven't shown any signs of being sick. So my question to other members is has anyone actually tried this? :bounce:
