  2. As title says post pics of your american dats! need some convincing to maybe get one
  3. Guts Morcs, he looked nice too :-? , guess youll just have to get another one . cheers stella, these guys are fun to feed as they go bonkers, I have to say that the albinos are absolute gluttons they eat everything, I can hand feed them, and they act like retards trying to find the food banging into all obstacles and other fish
  4. nah, small del is definitely a del  , photos dont do him justice but he really does look more lower jawed, also the new dels have a lot more stream lined heads than my biggest one which is fatter + older. try putting heaps of plants in the tank to help them feel secure- the only times mine go to the surface is to get oxygen, i also have a full hood that covers any escape 8). I sold jeff to an asian guy, needed the cash to get more polys  , and couldn't give him a large enough tank within a few weeks AND he was fighting with my tiger
  5. Some more pics.... Here they are again - they should darken up in colour soon on this darker gravel. Dats chillin in new log pile Larger of the 2 new dels, but I like the smaller one more - cooler streamlined shape, but big one has best bands. Any comments welcome
  6. Well I did some stock changes, I now have 3 delhezis, 2 dats - 1 has gone a really weird colour while showing dominance, both have full bands around necks and one has an oddball stripe pattern, 1 ornate and 2 albinos... Enjoy! (PS: here you go Ashley) My old dat I got back, he grew and now he is slightly larger than my other one My original dat My fav albino Weird stripes now? NZ now has nuclear missiles 8) 8) Both new delhezis Thanks Ashley - I reckon the smaller one looks abit like a lower jaw bichir, just the jaw is a little short on the bottom - I like him most
  7. Just wondering if you guys could help me out here for a sec? Clown Pleco: How much, availability, size? Scarlet Pleco: How much, availability, size? cheers guys
  8. Sweet, any specs? How big are they and where are you getting them from?
  9. Some private joke? Or do you actually have them ?
  10. Hey Wok, can't come just yet as I have exams, but i will look out for notifications on this forum on when the next meeting will be after christmas
  11. On the website it says they have 2 iridescent sharks which grow to a metre
  12. Will hopefully this summer as schools over, only prob is I dont have my own car, and parents arn't keen driving me all over auckland for fishy stuff.
  13. just checked out your website Mark (good job, looking nice, will have to visit for the 1st time this summer hopefully) and saw that you have 2 Id sharks How did you find them? or did apply for an import thingy-me-bob?
  14. As title says, what happens at these meetings/get togethers? Is it as extreme as the US ones where they bring fish to trade etc, or is it just a social 'hello hows it going' sorta thing. I assume it costs to join a club, unfortunately there is none on the shore I think? Someone who has been in the business/hobby for a while should set one up here, I know i'd join!
  15. How fast does the hair grass grow?
  16. My ideal small community freshwater: 2-3 sparkling gouramis, 2-3 scarlet badis badis, some otos, small group of emerald eyes, kuhli loaches. Plant wise: indian fern (large clump at back corner), variety of crypts - thats all Use inconspicuous small rocks and driftwood for a focal point. Can get all the fish at Hollywood albany, but the badis badis I have only seen once - looked real good at only 1cm just my opinion
  17. Yeah, kept him on gravel, but I flushed him  no chance of getting him back if he did die from eating gravel hes the first out of all of mine, kept on gravel in shops too :-?
  18. None left in Hollywood albany i think, didn't see one in the tank even tho it was still listed - anyone wanting to sell their del or trade? :bounce:
  19. yeah I want to replace him but they are quite expensive, and would want him preferably to be larger than 10cm so he can go with my other bigger guys rather than in a grow-out. Also interested in lemon barbs, but haven't seen any around lately. Oh, its Fraser, not frasier by the way bro, widout the 'i', aye  - funny how everyone assumes its frasier tho or with a 'z' Do they have any dels in roskill Atm?
  20. Oh well part of the risk factor in this hobby  Just keep trying at it I guess, reminds me - my mum bought my 1st tank when I was 11-12 and was only around 20-30L, of course I got immediately interested  and bought lots of fish for my small tank, I have calculated I lost about 40 fish in that little tank (neons, angels, krib, etc and gourami's-not much luck with them) steep and expensive learning curve, but now from all my experience (5 years ) I barely ever lose a fish and my knowledge base is a lot wider - part of the reason why I was pretty disappointed at losing the del - could always get another one  - only $87
  21. No, in fact he was hesitant to eat and did not consume much at all, housed with fire eel and 3 nandus and none of them are glutonous - mystery to me, I think he may have had an internal problem though but did not show symptoms :-? Im not happy.
  22. My 10cm delhezi died mysteriously today don't know why, had nice bands too
  23. I have a theory that if you keep that species (any type) with others of same species and feed them adequately they will grow faster due to the factor of dominance. For example: when I bought my 1st ornate he grew at an average pace, when I added the other 2 (one was a bit larger) both of the smaller ones ate a lot more and faster to gain size so that they may become the dominant fish (now one of them is bigger and the new dominant fish) - bigger = better 8) As a result of competition the fish's instinct to grow is enhanced when in groups- just a theory though, continued when I added the large ornate, smaller ones continue to eat a lot. What do you guys think?
  24. Awesome, good choice on plants also, although the crypts are slow to grow they look great, how big is the ornate?
