  1. young chocolate cichlids are very nice, once again, if fish can fit in their mouths, then they become cichlid food. Gold severums are very calm, provided the other fish don't fit in their mouthes.

I would just rinse out the sponges toss out the carbon if you are not taking meds out of your tank. scrap the filter wool (this will only reduce the flow, IMHO) get some more eheim substrate (or the aquaone branded stuff if you can't afford eheim) rinse out the noodles. Put it all together and away you go.

  9. Got back home today around 4.00pm Managed to get the blocks back to Kerry's place. killie stand in storage at the Aquarium for next year. Just need to get the Stand Base from Hamilton to Napier at some stage :roll: :lol: Thanks to Michael for the female jag, she is doing well in teh tank. plenty of boyfriends.   10. Killies went really cheap. around $4 per fish. What a bargain for those that were there.
  11. Well, All the fish are packed and are happily on their way home, or new homes. Billaney managed to outbid a number of people and is taking home some winning killies, so watchout for next years Killie show where Billaney may take out all the prizes. Thank you to all who participated and visited the show during the weekend. Hope to see more people next year in Napier.

  23. Do you really need UV? As long as you don't do anything silly and keep your tank maintained, I really think you don't need UV. If you don't need it, it will save you money. I only use Fluvals for External filters, great in my opinion.
