  1. Then it's not aromatica. The stuff I have been spreading around has the strongest, best smell EVER! I even grew a little and cooked some with rice!
  2. Smell that plant please ant!
  3. Looks like L. Aromatica 'green' to me. __ Tank is looking good. Only, if you are running an airstone; run it at night and not during the day when the CO2 is on. Where the discus from? Those blue ones have a snakeskin gene!
  4. I think this is a good case of foot in mouth syndrome. Glad to know that I am not the only one who suffers from it. I think we all thought it (you'd have to be blind not to) but someone said it - just like many on the auction. Not exactly the best choice of words I will admit, but I'm sure it wasn't meant in a bad way.

    Hey Sam!

Probably thinks he is a cocker spaniel...

    Hey Sam!

    He's pretty cute!
  7. I have to trial it all, but I'm thinking of a custom range. Made to order based on the requirements of each setup. Still dreams though, have to test it all myself before I go jumping the gun.
  8. I heart it too. But at least I have discovered that my ferts are working! It took ages to grow too! I will let you know when I launch the p44 range of complete aquarium ferts!
  9. Also, it appears my wonderful algae background will soon be no more! I have been working on a range of macro and micro nutrients and 24 hours after dosing with the stuff I made, the algae is gone a very pale green-white colour.
  10. err.. There are lots of types. Almost all that you get here in NZ, bar the larger ones. I just call them brown crypt, green crypt, yellow crypt, melting crypt and other crypts. :nilly: Affinis is one of my favourites, so as stuff grows from here I put some in the larger tank.
  11. I could clean out one of my filters today and rinse the media in a bucket for you. You then take that and put it in your tank, and with your current filters you should be ok and ready to go.
  12. No more than 3 in a tank that size; but even with 3 you run the odds of aggression if 2 males have to fight over a single female. Most people underestimate how big discus can actually get. While 8 might be a good number to start off with, you do need to thin down numbers until the tank is 'balanced'.
  13. It's UPDATE time! :happy1: (Hope all of you are as enthusiastic as I am!) (Yes that is a naughty discus being given some time out for hassling my pair. He goes to a temp new home for a chill out period tomorrow). :nilly:
  14. water changes everyday, sometimes twice a day. feed very small meals, maybe 6 times a day. Keep them slightly hungry at all times - not asking for much with bettas
  15. ! That's awesome! May I ask where you got it from? Something to consider if it's on sale!
  16. Kind of... Now I'm getting a little more technical and I'm going to make some brilliant stuff!
  17. Pachelbel's Canon in D with hip hop! !drool:
  18. Today I went to do some stuff and landed up at the LFS   . Saw some spotted head-standers and now I want to add 6 of them in here. Very tempting! Apart from that I trimmed and replanted some stalks and added loads of ferts to the tank, and now the discus want to breed. Cories bred as I added the new water to the tank :happy2: That means that the hypans get to eat some fresh eggs! :dunno:
  19. If a relatively small - normal sized fish ever dies in my tank; I don't bother removing it. Circle of life and all.
  20. yeah, +1 The crème dé la crème is hard to come by now.
