wow that furan2 works wonders this morning my Discus are hungry and slowly swimming round the tank. Thank you thank you thank you. Discus Guru if you are looking at this I would eventually like to change the discus that are currently in my tank to some brighter colours will this happen every time I change the fish combination? :bounce:

Sorry fish shop in North coate Pupuke Fish Shop. Have rough meny fish fromm him in the past and all has been good.

temp is 30. Both these were in a tank together at PP fish shop he said they had een there for about 3 weeks so I thought it'ld be ok. I'll learn.

Hi there I had 5 discus that I grew out from babies had them for about 5 months. I then went and brought 2 new discus the same size. Did the right thing when putting them in the tanks and everything seemed fine for about two days. Now my discus are all hiding in one corner and the ones I have had the longest have clenched fins and have gone really dark all look extremely unhappy. The newer ones are hiding with them but they occasionally swim out. None are eating. I have checked the water all seems good. ph about 6.8, Ammonia 0. Did a 50% change on Wednesday, 25% Thursday and a good 30% today. I also put some salt in as this was recommended in one of my discus books. Any suggestions? I didn't want to move them out of the tank if it'll make it worse. I also don't want them to all die on me.

you know david r I have always found your information helpful and taken advise you have given which has been useful and rewarding so thank you. IMO you are needed on this site and the other sites are also interesting reading as well. So thank you.

today all discus at the front no problems with eating the discus chase to cls away. feeding the cls in another spot to the discus. I think I'll on sell the clowns as I have 3 new discus arriving soon. I will miss them but maybe get some more later.

mine would e cherry barbs managed to kill sll of mine within a week

all in tank together at the moment. Lots of plants and drift wood caves for the CL's so should be ok. Was reading on here that discus sulk so maybe moving the heater and adding the rock gave them a scare. thanks for your replies.

Hi there anyone got an opinion about if I should keep 6 clowns and 6 discus together? Discus are still little aout 4.5cm loaches are about 8cm and frisky. Brought the discus home on Saturday and they were fine hanging out in front and eating heaps. Monday night I moved the heater and put another rock in the tank for the clowns. now the discus are hiding in a corner and not coming out to eat. Any help would be great.

thanks I did use an icecream container and used the original water from the tank. Parent fish are still looking after the wrigglers on the bottom of the tank so maybe they arn't dead. I see they have taken all the ones that remained on the leaves and put them with the others on the bottom of the tank. I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens now. :-?

I think I have killed my baby angels. :oops: For weeks I have had a couple of Angels dominating the tank laying eggs then nothing. I thought I would change around the tank and see what happens. I don't really want babys anyway. Yesterday I see that the babys have hatched I thought it was some sort of furry fungus but no. So this morning I decided to move the parents and babys to another tank to stop some of the aggression. So carefully took the parents out and transferred then. Then came the babys which were holding onto two leaves. scopped them up and pop then in the new tank. Mummy angel has moved them all to the glass bottom and i can't see the babys moving any more. I guess I'm a bad fish owner. The reason I am writting this is what do I do now if any survive. Do I need to buy some baby food or will the parents provide? I have read that the mother angel will lay egggs and the hatchlings will eat these to egin with. Any help would be appreciated.

Congratulations what colour are mum & dad? :bounce: I have 8 Angels only young and they ar beautiful. Koi, Black and gold. They live with 7 Clowns.

My old cat thought it was a dog and travelled with me to all sorts of places never had any trouble as long as she knew where I was. Long trips were not an issue. Saying this she started travelling with me from the age of a kitten and we used to pack up the car and she would be waiting to go. Had a cat cage and never any problem

Hi all I'm moving house and I was wondering if I rehouse my fish in a small tank with a sponge filter for a couple of days is there any way of keeping the media from the main tank healthy so I can just set the tank up again without recycling. Would putting it in a bucket with some water from the tank work? It will probably be 24 hours from the time I dismantle the big tank and set it up again in the new house.

congrats Rochelle.I just love my new tank I have Angels and clowns in it now. Did your mollie babies die? Mine is still alive and thinks it is a clown.

I got bored with my tanks when I had three and was heading for more. Sold the lot and brought one 200ltr with 10 baby angels, 2 mollies (which are really active) and 7 small clowns. The theory is I will to onsell my clowns and angels when they get bigger. I really like the clown and angel combo so will probably change the angels to from the koi's to black vieltails and get some more baby clowns.

Have you been to http://www.tropicalfishandaquariums.com/ they have a really helpful compatability database. I've just set up a tank with 10 x Angels and Clowns. As the Angels grow I will have to on sell them, same with the Clowns however the tank looks awesome very active.

I've used this trader before for some spone ffilters they worked great. He seems pretty knowledgeable about his products and I looked at getting on of these but ended up with an AR980 with inbuilt filter.

sure I'll do that tonight. They were probably fromt he same guy went rount to pick Angels up and he had tanks and tank full of different Angles & Discus.

I have just brought 10 angels from trademe they are stunning I went hunting the LFS and these are so much nicer. I went for Koi\Ghost and Black and think I like the Black ones best. Mine are in with Clowns. Animates have a special on clowns this week 3 for $30.00. The Angels were 10 for $50.00 and are about 5CM in body size. Same size ones at the LFS were $20.00 each.
